Knicks tie NBA Playoffs three-point record at halftime in Game 4 vs Sixers

The New York Knicks seem to be enjoying a good streak in playoff-clinching series games.

It was a 51-point blowout against the Atlanta Hawks in Game 6 of their First Round game earlier in the NBA Playoffs. But with a potential sweep against the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Sunday, the Knicks put on an epic shooting clinic from beyond the arc in the first half.

The Knicks tied the record for the first quarter and first half of the NBA Playoffs with three points, as they failed to miss at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Game 4 against the Sixers.

In the first quarter, the Knicks took a 43-24 lead after shooting 11-of-13 from three-point range, and Miles “Deuce” McBride went 4-for-4 to start his game and help New York run to a big lead.

The Knicks didn’t deviate from their game plan in the second quarter. McBride drained another three-pointer, going 6-of-7 for a team-high 20 points at halftime. But he was not alone.

Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson was 4-of-8 from beyond the arc, Josh Hart was 3-of-5, Karl-Anthony Towns was 2-of-2 and Landry Shamet was 3-of-5 off the bench as New York sank 18 three-pointers, compiling an NBA Playoffs record 81-5 first half record on their way.

Shamet, who was solid from the three-point range in New York’s Game 3 win, had a good look to break the first-quarter record, but he hit the floor with a miss just before the buzzer.

Meanwhile, the 76ers couldn’t put out the Knick fire on their offense. They shot just 4-of-15 from three-point range, and 51% overall (21-for-41). But their six turnovers led to the Knicks scoring 12 points.

Still, it’s hard to fight back after seeing a team shoot over 40% from three, let alone the 62% that the Knicks shot. There are still two quarters left in this win-or-go-home contest for the Sixers, but the Knicks are looking to put the series away and rest up for a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals.
