Shyam Sankar, chief technology officer and senior vice president of Palantir Technologies, told Fox News Digital in a new interview that America is in competition with China when it comes to artificial intelligence and keeping American workers competitive.
“You see this, there’s a cable manufacturer where you have a pre-enlisted Navy man, who doesn’t have some certified education, but he’s an expert in factory management,” Sankar said.
“Also AI has empowered them to increase their productivity,” added Sankar. “They’ve improved yields by 50%. They’ve reduced machine downtime by 20%. They’re able to produce more. And if we think about the geopolitical context we’re in, we’re in competition with China. We want to bring these jobs back to America. Giving the American worker the ability to produce 50 times, that much power is the way to make America profitable and bring the economy back.”

Sankar echoed that sentiment on Monday op-ed on Fox News Digital, where he wrote, “The story of job loss is a ploy to attract investors, drive media attention and mobilize political power. The real promise of AI in business is to make the American worker 50x more productive – freeing his taste and agency.”
Sankar told Fox News Digital that he is worried about a situation where the US fails to use AI and loses its competitive advantage.
“I don’t even want to think about it,” Sankar said of the situation. “I mean, you know, it’s like, if China’s productivity grows by 6%, if America’s productivity grows by about half a percent, this is our shilling. This is our asymmetric benefit, you know. That’s what’s not in their long-range plan.”

Sankar said that AI could be like a wild card, something that China did not expect, that, if used well, could put the US ahead of the Communist world.
“China has been thinking for more than 50 years about how to destroy American prosperity,” Sankar said. “You know what was missing from that plan? AI. Now, the challenge for us is how do we use it? How do we use the twin powers of America, which is the American worker, and AI to re-industrialize the country, to regain profitability and productivity, to do that by empowering the American worker and making it profitable to produce everything we need here in America.”
