Spirit Airlines Cancels All Flights and Announces Closure
According to the company, Spirit Airlines has officially canceled all high-speed flights and announced “organized air-conditioning” of operations, affecting thousands of aircraft and crews. In a statement, the airline informed customers that all flights have been canceled and customer service is no longer available. In addition, the move comes after ongoing financial struggles, including multiple bankruptcy filings and post-pandemic recovery challenges. The management said that the increase in fuel costs and the lack of funds have brought the airline to this point, the leadership admits that the company needs hundreds and millions of additional support to continue operating but failed to secure it.
“To our guests: all flights have been cancelled, and customer service is no longer available,” the company revealed in a statement. “Despite the Company’s efforts, the recent increase in oil prices and other business pressures have had a significant impact on Spirit’s financial condition,” it continued. “Without other funding available from the company, Spirit had no choice but to start the matter from scratch.”
