Who Sues Saweetie And Why?
As TMZ reports, Moon Dream Production filed a lawsuit against Saweetie. Court documents reportedly state that the rapper agreed to perform four shows in Japan last summer, from July 18 to July 26. To guarantee the performances, the company allegedly paid him a $100,000 deposit, with an agreement to pay another $100,000 for a total of $200,000.
Moon Dream Production claims that Saweetie took the deposit but did not enter the stage, thus breaching the contract. Additionally, the indictment documents say that he and his team “utilized all the visa facilities” the promoter provided. Those services allowed him to enter Japan to perform. But instead of entering the four stages they agreed upon, Moon Dream Production says that he “continued to perform at different venues for other vendors on the same dates he was contracted to” with them.
Because of this, it seems that the company asked for the deposit money back, but Saweetie and his team are said to have refused. The suit claims the promoter lost $100,000 in marketing and advertising costs, and $200,000 in real estate. Moon Dream Production expected to make at least $400,000 from all the scheduled shows, but with no shows, that didn’t happen. At the moment, it is not clear why Saweetie allegedly did not fulfill the contract. The company is seeking $3 million in punitive damages.
