Raine Michaels Reveals The “Bad Advice” Her Father Bret Michaels Gave Her Before Joining ‘Calabasas Confidential’

Raine Michaels, the 26-year-old daughter of Poison frontman Bret Michaels, is following in her father’s footsteps. But instead of selling out arenas as the lead singer of an ’80s rock and roll band, Raine is stepping into the limelight as one of Netflix’s new reality TV stars.
Calabasas Secret, which dropped on the show today, stars Raine and her group of Gen Z pals from Calabasas, the glamorous Californian town made famous by the Kardashian family. Raine, who is one of the few characters from a famous family, has proven to be one of the main characters in the series, often serving as a voice of reason in a chaotic environment.
Of course, this isn’t Raine’s first rodeo with reality TV. Back when he was a kid, it was on VH1 Bret Michaels: Life As I Know Itwho followed the famous rocker as he balanced life on the road and being a father of two daughters. Before that, he filmed three seasons of Rock of Love with Bret Michaelsa dating reality show where 20 women compete for his heart. Although his father is not known for having cameras documenting his life, Raine jokingly said that he has been able to give him “bad” advice as he embarks on his TV career.
He said, ‘Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,’ which was terrible advice because he did everything [Rock of Love],” Raine told DECIDER in a recent Zoom interview. “So, it’s not good advice from him on that. But yeah, he said, ‘Be yourself and hopefully everyone will like you.'”
Raine, who landed her first modeling job in Sports Illustrated at just 18 years old, spends much of the season talking about her next move: does she want to continue modeling? Do you want to start a career in sports broadcasting? Or do you just want to settle down and start selling foot pictures? All options are valid, and she seems to have the support of her father, regardless of which path she chooses.

In episode 7, Raine opens up about the pressure she feels to achieve success, given that Bret was so young when he became famous. When we caught up with Raine, she said her father’s early success “both” inspires her and scares her.
“Seeing what he has achieved in his life inspires me a lot, but also, at the age of 26, he was doing a lot of crazy things, [like] I sell stadiums,” he said. He is proof of success in appearing without doing anything to make such a name for himself.”
As for how she feels about the phrase “nepo baby,” Raine said it “doesn’t bother her,” noting that it’s just a “name” that has “fun connotations today.”
“My father has always told me, ‘I can open the door for you, I can put your foot in the door, but it is your job to open it,'” he said. “You can take me this far, and I’ll do the rest for you myself. He always instills in me and my sister to follow our dreams, and whatever we set out to do, we give 100%.”
Calabasas is a secret is currently streaming on Netflix.
