Jasmine Crockett declined to endorse Talarico in the Texas Senate race

There is a tradition in Texas of people named Crockett making famous last stands. For Davey Crockett, it was the Alamo, but the hill where Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, appears to be dying to stop James Talarico, who defeated her in the primary, from winning her Senate race.

The popular Crockett told the Dallas Morning News this week that he “doesn’t know” when asked if he would support Talarico in November, saying he is focused on down-ballot races.

Crockett also declined an invitation to speak for Talarico at the upcoming Texas Democratic Party convention. In fact, he just skipped everything.

On the other hand, this refusal to play football could be the outrage of a woman scorned, but even so, there are several reasons for Democrats to worry about Crockett taking his endorsement and going home.

RISING STAR TALARICO TOPPLES PROGRESSIVE FIREBRAND CROCKETT AT THE TOP OF THE TEXAS SENATE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY

The first reason why Crockett’s refusal to endorse Talarico would hurt is that it takes an important political weapon, specifically, the fact that longtime GOP Sen. John Cornyn, who lost his party’s primary, also refuses to endorse the man who beat him, Ken Paxton.

Talarico would like to slap on a mischievous smile and tell Texas voters, “Even John Cornyn, as Republican as he gets, won’t laugh at my extreme opponent,” or whatever. But when his main opponent, a sitting member of Congress, also despises him, it becomes obvious.

A deeper problem for the party revealed by Crockett’s resignation is a growing concern among Black Democrats that their power in the party is being undermined and diminished.

In our blue-collar cities, the Democratic Socialists of America are busy replacing the old Black power in the party with immigrants. The voters who are fueling this change the most are the well-to-do, educated white people who consistently line up for progressives in the polls.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani held a rally this week for his Congressional candidates in Gotham, none of whom are Black, all of whom are socialists and most of whom are opposed by the Black Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries, who lives in Brooklyn.

Jeffries is supposed to be the head of the Black political party in New York City, but it looks like he doesn’t have much left.

The leftist rally came on the same day as the inauguration of President Barack Obama’s center in Chicago, the funeral of an old party on the shores of Lake Michigan, the baptism of a new socialist party in Brooklyn.

On Friday, on CNN, Corey Booker, the Black Senator from New Jersey, was shown a clip of Commie Mamdani calling the Democrats the old party that needs to be replaced. His response: “I don’t want to talk about the Democratic Party.”

In other words, total surrender.

DAVID MARCUS: DEMS FOUNDATION OPENS GRAHAM PLTNER, BUT TOO FAR

Meanwhile, in Senate races in purple states, like Maine, and Crockett’s Texas, Democrats have decided this cycle that “relatable” White guys are the ticket to success.

Graham Platner, in the Pine Tree State, has as many scars as a candidate we’ve seen in a long time, yet Democrats think they’ve found a White guy who knows how to load a gun.

In Texas, race was a central theme of the Democratic Party primary. In one viral clip of the contest, we saw a middle-aged White female voter in tears, telling a reporter that she loved Crockett but had to vote for Talarico because Texas was too racist to elect a black woman.

TEXAS DEMOCRAT SAYS VOTING FOR TALARICO OVER CROCKETT BECAUSE ‘WE NEED SOMEONE WHO CAN’T WIN’

It was amazing, actually, here was this woman without saying, “I have to do an act of racism to fight racism.”

Feckless Congressional Democrats who continue to feed the communist tiger of their party, Hasan Piker, in the hope that he will eventually be eaten, may want to consider Crockett’s example. He may have done a political Hari Kari but at least he is independent.

Even Crockett’s promise to focus his energy on down-ballot races shows that he’s not sure whether the national party or the Texas Democratic Party is really listening to his supporters, but rather, taking them for granted.

Republicans should also heed Crockett’s defection here, and give Black voters who aren’t communists and don’t believe men should be in women’s sports or shelters a way back home to the GOP.

Davey Crockett did not survive the battle of the Alamo, and Jasmine Crockett’s political career may not survive her Senate primary loss and her antics since then. But in the end, Texas carried the day, and we remember the Alamo because it was not a wasted loss.

Maybe Crockett is waiting for some concessions from Democrats and Talarico, but for now, it doesn’t look like he’s going to give in and throw his hands up to concede to his opponent. For Republicans, this is great news.
