A beautiful day in a park in peaceful Los Angeles hides a disturbing truth

The body of a homeless man was found in a lush park in Los Angeles this week – but tourists seemed unfazed by the tragic incident as they lay on the grass and pushed children in prams near the scene.
Park-goers were seen walking away from the body Wednesday at the Westwood Recreation Center, where LAPD officers set up a cordon to cover the body before the coroner arrived.
“It was a beautiful day in Westwood and everyone seemed to be enjoying the park,” an eyewitness told the California Post.
Despite this amazing discovery, cyclists rode nearby, young couples dressed in pajamas on the grass, and the sound of children enjoying the playground could be heard in the background.
“Everyone was shocked because of the panic that was happening around them,” added the 40-year-old witness, who asked that his name not be used because his friends on the left were upset by his support for Spencer Pratt.
The LA resident said it’s not the first time he’s seen a homeless person die in public – recalling another incident at Crescent Bay Park in Santa Monica in 2021.
“It was strange to see. I think it’s nice to see a dead body – but people quickly got on with their work and it was just another day in the park,” said the witness.
“It’s become the norm in Los Angeles now — people are dying of homelessness and it’s business as usual.”
He also added that the bodies do not come from the beautiful areas of Los Angeles, such as Beverly Hills or Manhattan Beach “where the rules are enforced.”
“People don’t shut up about it,” he said of Angelenos. “And it’s really sad, especially because this doesn’t happen in other cities.”
The witness added that an LAPD officer at the scene in Westwood told him that homeless deaths are no longer concentrated in downtown LA’s infamous Skid Row, as the problem has spread to other areas of the city.
He said: “He didn’t think the problem of homelessness could be solved. He sounded burnt out.”
The LAPD did not have additional information about the discovery or the circumstances surrounding the death. The LA County Coroner did not immediately return a request for comment.
A witness who spoke to police described himself as a big fan of Pratt and his strong goals to end homelessness in the city.
He pointed out that the problem will continue if the current Mayor Karen Bass continues in power or her opponent, Nithya Raman, supported by the Socialist, wins in November.
“This will continue,” he warned.
In March, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health released its annual report on homeless deaths in LA County, which recorded 2,208 homeless deaths by 2024.
