Dem congressional ‘sex therapy’ past ‘sex therapy’ revealed

A Democrat running for a newly-drawn congressional seat in Texas bills himself as a family therapist — but his resume includes a curious history of “sex therapy” headlined by stars.

The unusual business pursuits of wannabe lawyer Maureen Galindo, a 38-year-old single mother, have been revealed by a new report even though she tried to remove her profile from the Internet.

Galindo, who is campaigning for a seat in Texas’ 35th Congressional District, is a licensed marriage and family therapist with Exulted Sex Therapy, where she talks about anything from “not having fun” to enjoying life, according to its website.

In 2022, he used the cosmic-themed Cosmic Kinks Tarot in Bexar County, Texas.

There, she offered “kinky birth chart readings” and “live tarot treatments” to “empower people by exploring their sexuality, spirituality, and astrology,” the Daily Mail reported.

Galindo explained in a statement released by the store that she “supports people in developing healthy and safe sex” using popular methods of astrology combined with sex education – not legal therapy, as she was not licensed at the time.

The sexpert often alternates between describing himself as a “social psychologist” and a therapist in the field.

Texas has three licenses that allow the practice of psychology. Only people who have obtained a relevant doctorate can apply – Galindo notably lacks a credential.

The Lone Star State also offers a separate psychologist’s license, which Galindo does not have, according to records seen by the outlet.

Galindo told the media that he “has a Masters in Community Psychology.”

His alma mater, Concordia University, offered a Master of Arts in Community Psychology before it closed in 2020.

Galindo faces stiff competition from Johnny Garcia, who has been nominated by Democrats for the new seat in the 35th district.

The self-described “Old School Democrat” is not pretending.

Galindo is currently facing a backlash for his repeated comments and promotion of his conspiracy theories that have been around for years.

On Wednesday, Galindo accused Garcia of seeking to influence human trafficking networks in Bexar County – with the support of the “billionaire Zionists” who control them.

“[Zionists] they also infiltrate our local governments, the billionaire Zionists of Israel. So, I think it’s important to bring that up and call it out,” Galindo told The Current.

He separately claimed that “billionaire Zionists and their puppets” pushed the New York Times to publish two “pieces” on him.

Then on Thursday, the Consulate General of Israel in the Southwest weighed in and condemned the “hateful remarks” made by “people seeking public office,” although it did not refer to Galindo by name.

The two Republicans are facing off for one state seat in their primary in late May.

The high-profile race was fueled by a new congressional district map passed by Texas Republicans in August 2025.

About five Democratic Alliance seats are up for grabs in the midterm elections.
