Grey’s Anatomy star Cyler Leigh she announced that she and her husband Nathan West they have quietly separated after 23 years of marriage.
Leigh, 44, opened up about her split from West, 47, during the Tuesday, May 12, episode of the “Books That Changed My Life” podcast. “I think there came a time when my relationship with my ex reached a point where it was the right time,” he said while thinking about when he needed to ask for help.
“It was time to call it quits. Even after so long,” Leigh, who shares children Noah, 22, Taelyn, 19, and Anniston, 17, with West, shared. “We were together … it could have been [have been] 26 years this year.”
Noting that she and West agreed to “get along,” Leigh continued, “It just got to a point where it was like, ‘Okay, what you want and what I want don’t really match up anymore.’ And I would like us to treat each other well and not hold grudges and anger … all those things. It’s not fair.”

Leigh also shared that their differences have “shown a lot” in their children. “It just changes the mindset and the dynamics of everything. He’s been through a lot of trauma with his family. I’ve been through a lot of trauma with my family. So we’re perpetuating that cycle. And it was like, ‘Okay, we have to choose.’
The duo met in 1999 when Leigh was just 16 years old and West was 20. They tied the knot in July 2002 in Alaska. In December 2003, when she was 21, Leigh gave birth to Noah.

“Going from zero to one is very shocking,” he said. “One to two was a little more challenging. Two to three was more challenging, but once you get used to repetition, you learn how to put things together quickly. You learn to plan. By number three, you gain more confidence as a mother. It’s like a calm mother, a calm child.”
West also talked a lot about being a father of three at the time, saying, “I couldn’t imagine our family without [Anniston]. You just finished.”
