Armie Hammer compares his exile from Hollywood to being crucified.

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the “Call Me by Your Name” star — who was fired after allegations of sexual harassment and obsessive thoughts surfaced in 2021 — talked about how the fallout affected his career and explained how he managed to overcome it.

A hammer is blamed sexual harassment in 2021 by his ex-girlfriend, who also said the actor raped her “with violence” and “for more than four hours.” Hammer, who was married to wife Elizabeth Chambers at the time of the alleged assault in 2017, appeared to have been exiled from Hollywood following a series of text messages that described sexual fantasies, including references to rape, physical and psychological violence and cannibalism.

They were leaked online by his ex-girlfriend, Efrosina Angelova. In April 2023, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office confirmed that there was an ongoing investigation, but the DA ultimately said there was not enough evidence to charge him with any wrongdoing.

In his interview with THR, Hammer recalled the time his father, Michael, urged him to stand up against these allegations.

“He was angry,” Hammer said. “‘I’m going to call the person, I’m going to do this, we have to make sure he knows this.’ He really wanted to continue the attack. “

“I said, ‘Look, brother, I’m already on the cross. The nails are in my hands. I’m not leaving this cross no matter what we do,'” Hammer, who fled to the Cayman Islands at the time, remembers talking to his father. “And the more I struggle, the longer I’ll be up here.”

“What you resist is static. What you accept changes,” he said. “Nothing I could say would fix anything.”

“There was a time when I was sitting and reading what people said,” he continued. “And then a critical mass came, and I thought: There is no nutritional value in this for me. This is almost not even the real world. I realized that I can just focus on me and my children and stay healthy and grow as a person. You can make that your goal.”

“I made these problems for myself. This didn’t happen to me by accident,” Hammer told the outlet. “I didn’t do what people said I did. But I brought very dangerous and unsafe people into my life, and I —-d off people into my life – and here we are.”

“I remember the emotional state and the mental state I was in before all of that. Healthy people don’t act the way I did. I’d love it if I had the chance to do it in a more gentle way. But at the end of the day – you get what you get.”

His ex-wife, Chambers, filed for divorce in 2020, months before the torture, rape and manslaughter allegations against Hammer. Their divorce was finalized in 2023.
