American Reality Stars in AI Series Interviews

“Big names from the US real world” are in talks to be involved in Season 2 of the AI reality series, according to its creator.

Speaking at Deadline’s Reality TV Summit UK, Tom Paton teased some of the people “known to be leading the reality scene” in interviews for Non-Player Combat.

It is described as “a cross between The Hunger Games, Fortnite again Traitors,” the show from Paton’s AiMation Studios bills itself as the world’s first 100% AI-produced reality TV show.

Paton did not name those in talks for Season 2 or their possible involvement but said AiMation Studios has big plans for the show to stream on YouTube and the AiMation streaming platform.

“The interest around it is crazy,” he told the AI panel at the Reality UK Conference. “One of the real goals of Season 2 is to make it feel likeable Big Brotherwhat you see is what happened yesterday. Episodes come in real time after the cast.”

AiMation has previously said it has received interest in the format from international broadcasters.

Matt Campion, running back Ed Gein: The Real Psycho Indie Spirit Studios, which used AI to recreate Gein’s home, the environment and the man himself, said “some broadcasters expect [AI]some don’t, and some are fine as long as you use their tools and their s**t tools.”

He added that American networks are “reluctant” to fund AI content before it is shown.

“Because of this perception of reality, especially in real crime, they refuse to deposit money before the sale,” he added. “But it doesn’t mean they won’t buy the finished product.”

After Gein’s show, Spirit Studios did more of this including “AI composite scenes,” according to Campion. “This adds, it doesn’t take anything away and it doesn’t try to be too clever,” he added. “The future is to move forward as an indie and to be a modern-day indie you have to embrace AI.”

Also speaking on the panel was Katrien Grobler, who runs the controversial AI twinning program Twinnin. He was speaking two days before SAG-AFTRA voted to ratify a new set of contracts in the States that would include 12 clauses about AI, all of which Twinnin “supports because we’re protecting artists and people,” Grobler said.

Grobler is bullish about the speed of AI growth and believes that 99% of content will be AI produced by 2030, so artists’ equality needs to be protected.

His Twinnin’ Dream, which includes actors who may be sold to studios or productions, is Matthew McConaughey, who recently sold his image and voice to protect them from unauthorized use of AI platforms.

“He’s open to AI and he’s a good person,” Grobler said, adding that Twinnin works at a higher level that offers “a higher level of emotion.”

Deadline’s Reality TV Summit UK runs today alongside SXSW London. Netflix UK’s unscripted boss Syeda Irtizaali and some of the country’s most successful unscripted producers and directors have also appeared.
