A middle school counselor in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has been found dead after allegedly sending inappropriate text messages to a 14-year-old former student.
The police confirmed that Quinton Dixon was found dead at the age of 44 in an unused building at Glen Oaks Middle School on January 28, according to People.
Dixon’s death came two weeks after he was placed on leave from his job at Westdale Middle Magnet School. While he was taking a break, an investigation was started regarding the allegations against him.
In January, he was accused of sending the girl messages on Instagram between November 2025 and January 2026.
A warrant was filed for his arrest in late January on four counts of indecency with a child, according to court records reviewed. People.
The girl told police she met an older male counselor at her school. When he arrived, he stopped his car next to hers and told her that he looked familiar. He then told the officers to speak briefly before asking for his phone number or Instagram profile.
After sharing her details on Instagram, she said she started receiving likes and messages from the man on Instagram.
The girl also told police that the man’s name was Dixon, adding that he coached the football team at the high school she currently attends. The victim also told police that Dixon allegedly called her “fire” and did not forget her after she graduated from elementary school.
Police are investigating text messages exchanged between Dixon and the student, which they described as “consistent with good conduct to establish an intimate relationship with a minor victim,” according to the warrant.
The warrant added that Dixon may have started talking to the girl on November 10, 2025, when he asked her about her sexuality in response to a photo of her with a female friend. The warrant also revealed that he asked the girl where she lived and offered to give her a ride home several times.
After Dixon’s death, a spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge School System told WBRZ they were aware of the employee’s passing.
“We express our condolences to the school community, family and loved ones as they process this information at this difficult time,” the speaker said in a statement.
Redell Normanwho attended Glen Oaks and coached football with Dixon, also opened up about his passing.
“It’s unfortunate the circumstances of his premature death, but yes, I knew him and the situation is not good, we must pray for everyone,” he told the media.
Meanwhile, a resident of this area said that the situation is annoying to everyone. “It’s sad everywhere, it’s something you can’t really explain,” said the person.
The Baton Rouge Police Department did not immediately respond Us Weekly‘s request for comment on Dixon’s arrest.
