Melissa Peterman he weighed in on the possibility of him making a cameo in the former Reba the costar JoAnna Garcia Swisher‘s hit series Magnolias are sweet.
“Yes please. I feel like I’ve told JoAnna that before,” Peterman said specifically Us Weekly while we are promoting This is Happy’s place. “That would be a lot of fun.”
Peterman was excited to reunite with Swisher, 46, in an upcoming episode of the NBC sitcom, adding, “It was great, perfect and fun. [to work together again]. It was as if no time had passed. We talked a lot [and we were] we were told to be quiet because we have to practice.”
Swisher and Peterman even found time to “call” their former costar Steve Howey.
“We just laughed a lot, it was fun to present mine.” [Reba TV family] in my Happy’s Place family,” he added, “They all really loved him.”
NBC confirmed in September 2025 that Swisher will play a local Knoxville activist named Kenzie in the upcoming episode, which airs March 13. Her character “has been hired to represent Happy’s Place for their upcoming social media marketing campaign and much to Bobbie’s dismay,” according to the official character description.
Swisher is third Reba alum to make an appearance on Reba McEntire and Peterman’s hit, which premiered more than 17 years after their hit series Reba ended its six-year run on The WB. Reba also starred Christopher Rich again Steve Howeyboth of them did This is Happy’s place cameos already. “I can’t wait to shake it up there,” Swisher said in July 2025. “Steve Howey has done it, and Chris Rich has done it.”
The actor went on to say: “This is my family. We’re all very close, but getting the chance to step back on the sitcom stage with everyone would be really exciting. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens in the near future.”
Peterman, meanwhile, previously joked that he had a different role in Garcia’s mind.
“One thing I sent to the writers was when we knew we were going to bring JoAnna Garcia back,” Peterman shared with Us in December 2025.
Peterman enjoyed the idea of an antagonistic on-screen relationship with Swisher.
“She used to take my money and pretend she was pregnant but she never did,” he joked. “So, that was my one point that I thought might be funny. But looking back, what JoAnna was going to do was funny.”
This is Happy’s place airs on NBC on Fridays at 8 pm ET before airing the next day on Peacock.
