Tom Brady ‘exists’ in Raiders building, says Darnay Holmes

Tom Brady’s presence looms large in the Raiders’ ranks, with one player in Las Vegas actually calling the former NFL quarterback “the visionary of the team.”

Darnay Holmes didn’t try to clarify the issue when talking about Brady’s role in the Raiders organization during an interview with The California Post last week, saying he believes the future Hall of Famer has his fingerprints all over the Las Vegas franchise.

“He’s a strong presence in that building,” Holmes said of Brady. “If you have a major owner like a minority owner, you’re going to use him. I feel like we’re tapping into that well that he has.”

Holmes said Brady had previously given group speeches that included animation, leaving the meeting with a notebook “filled with the discussion he brought to the table.”

Holmes — a 27-year-old linebacker who has played in 29 games for the Raiders over the past two seasons — also said Brady has made sure some of the things that made him successful as a player are readily available on the current team, such as a therapist and nutritionist.

Perhaps most importantly, Holmes said, Brady also made himself accessible to the players.

“He’s just a showman,” said Holmes. “You see him in the building. You can break bread with him at lunch. And when he’s in that arena, you make sure you’re locked in with your skills because there are experts watching you.”

Brady’s bid to buy a small part of the Raiders was approved in October 2024, and his role seems to have grown with each passing month since then.

In fact, during the Raiders’ press conference Tuesday to introduce Klint Kubiak as their next coach, Kubiak said the seven-time Super Bowl champion was very involved in his interview.

Kubiak went on to say that “one of the biggest draws coming” to the Raiders was Brady, and added that he would “call him a lot” after getting the former Patriots star’s phone number.

Regarding Holmes ot Kubiak’s opinion, he said he enjoyed working with the Seahawks offensive coordinator.

“I’m happy for him, man,” Holmes said. “At the end of the day, if you have a coach with the way he used to have, the development he had, that’s what you want to have.”
