This Ultraslim Portable Power Station Keeps Your Refrigerator Running During Outages

Summer heat often damages the electricity grids, leading to brownouts and blackouts. This is a particular problem with refrigerators, which come loaded with food and perishables that can go bad in a matter of hours. FridgePower by Bluetti is ultraslim Portable power station designed to only plug into your refrigerator to keep it running during an outage.
“Although portable power stations can operate a refrigerator, they often require manual intervention during a crisis,” said James Ray, a spokesperson for Bluetti, in a press release about the previous Kickstarter campaign. “We created FridgePower to eliminate that friction — it provides a special, automated backup that’s always ready 24/7 so homeowners don’t have to lift a finger when the lights go out.”
FridgePower allows you to pair multiple BlueCell batteries, giving you up to four days of use.
We saw a similar idea from BioLite back during CES 2025with a small, portable power station that fits in the back of the refrigerator for backup power. FridgePower takes a slightly different approach; it can fit just as easily on top of your fridge as on the back of it, as it measures just 2.95 inches at its thickest point. It also comes with a magnetic screen that fits right into your fridge, making it easy to check the charge and battery status.
Installation is also very easy. I’m currently testing a model, and the FridgePower is plug-and-play with your existing kitchen and doesn’t require any kind of installation. It operates quietly at 30 decibels and comes with a LiFePOâ‚„ battery rated for over 4,000 cycles.
The system is plug-and-play, no installation is required.
It is available in various configurations with different add-ons, but the standalone unit has 2,016 watt hours or 1,800 watts. According to Bluetti, a single unit provides up to 21.6 hours of run time in a typical refrigerator, which is just under a day’s worth of power outages. If you need more juice, it can reach 8kWh with three BlueCell 200 expansion batteries, giving you a total of four days of operation. But at that point, you might want to start thinking whole home storage options.
To meet the needs of fridges and freezers, Bluetti FridgePower includes uninterrupted power. It switches to battery power automatically within 10 milliseconds of a power outage without you having to do anything manually, similar to what you find in more dedicated systems.
FridgePower also supports the Bluetti app, allowing you to manage four smart UPS modes: Standard, PV Priority, TOU and Custom. PV Priority stands for photovoltaic priority and prioritizes solar charging when connected. TOU stands for time-of-use and is designed to automatically manage customer charging through time-of-use metering systems.
It will also push Extreme Weather Alerts to your phone so you can stay informed about impending outage hazards.
The built-in magnetic screen can fit into your refrigerator to monitor energy usage and support the app.
