John Legend Saves Chrissy Teigen From Wardrobe Malfunction

Chrissy Teigen narrowly missed a wardrobe malfunction while attending the 2026 American Music Awards on Monday, May 25.

Teigen, 40, was accompanied by her husband as she walked the red carpet in a bright orange gown on Monday. When she stopped to take pictures, the heel of Teigen’s shoe got caught in her beaded dress.

Legend, 47, quickly jumped into action, trying to cut off his wife’s foot from her dress. At one point, another woman stepped in to help. They finally found Teigen’s heel, but not before a few beads fell off the dress. They were seen on the carpet as Teigen and Legend continued to take pictures.

Despite the tragedy, both Teigen and Legend were all smiles as the night went on.

Teigen attended Monday’s awards ceremony with her husband, who took the stage to give a speech Carol G with the International Artist Award of Excellence.

“What a pleasure to be back here at the American Music Awards to present this very special award, the International Artist of Excellence Award,” Legend told the crowd. “This is a rare and high honor that has reached the most famous celebrities of our time.
