Mikayla and Taylor’s Mormon Wives Debate on Friendship Status

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives stars Mikayla Matthews again Taylor Frankie Paul they clearly disagree about the nature of their friendship.

Matthews, 26, took to her Instagram Stories page on Saturday, May 9, revealing in a lengthy statement that she “tried to stay removed” from Paul, 31, during her legal drama. (Paul temporarily lost custody of his son Ever, 2, after a domestic violence incident with an ex Dakota Mortensen. Local police declined to press charges.)

“I feel sick to my stomach and feel bad for what everyone involved must be feeling and going through,” Matthews wrote, in part, on Saturday. “However, it’s not my job to enable bad or dangerous behavior in any group, especially when children are involved. That doesn’t mean I don’t love them or don’t want the best for their individual futures. It just means I can’t sit here and act like it’s okay that years of harmful behavior is now being discussed more than ever online and turned into a game of ‘picking sides’.”

According to Matthews, the only “right side” to be on is the child’s, so he began to set “healthy” boundaries in his friendships.

“I was there after that [Taylor’s] rock rock, i was there after [2023] buckle down,” Matthews said, adding that he supported Paul after Mortensen’s wobble Jenna, Shinya and a family friend of Paul’s. “Unless I was asked, I sent cookies, drinks, food, etc., and I seemed very low when I looked at my trauma, betrayal and health problems.”

He continued, “All the while, behaviors and patterns continued and were publicly praised as ‘dirty’ and ‘relatable.’ To continue to show empathy to someone who has said repeatedly that they can’t be friends right now, while admitting that they are aware of the decisions being made and still expect honesty online… would not only be disrespectful to my healing, but to the other people involved. You cannot save a person who is not willing to participate in his own rescue.”

Matthews went on to say that “having a compass and moral boundaries” does not make a “bad or jealous” friend.

Paul responded in the comments section of the fans repeat of Matthews message.

“He is an example of someone who waited for my downfall and not only watched, but also kicked me openly. I rarely, if ever, cried to him for help,” Paul, who shares two children with his ex-husband, answered on Saturday. “[My Mormon Wives castmates] I always wanted an update on my life, let’s not get it wrong. He is ‘tired of me’ as I try to stay at home and be quiet.”

Paul added, “I’m tired, but I knew he was doing his own thing [health] things, and I didn’t want to make it worse. It is clear that he will not do the same. PS: he can find his way to the door if he doesn’t want to record with me. The next one.”

In response, Matthews explained in a follow-up Instagram post that he never “prayed [Paul’s] fall” and just tried to be a good friend.

“It’s my turn. This has been going on for months … Happy Mother’s Day weekend to you too @mikayla__matt,” Paul added, referring to Matthews’ four children. “I hope you mean what you need to.”

Matthews and Paul are both members of the MomTom influencer group, which is a Hulu title Mormon wives. Production on season 5 was halted in March after Paul and Mortensen’s alleged feud. Us Weekly he confirmed that last month filming resumedalthough Paul has not yet appeared on camera.
