Rosie O’Donnell weighs in on returning to ‘The View’

Never say Never.
Rosie O’Donnell is open to returning to “The View.”
During Thursday’s appearance of “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,” O’Donnell, 64, was asked if he would like to return as a guest host, as his former nemesis, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, did earlier this year.
“I was going to welcome a guest, but they haven’t asked me yet. So we’ll see what happens,” answered the comedian.
O’Donnell also commented on Hasselbeck’s conservative tendencies.
“It’s interesting, in the Trump era, I think he’s the perfect person they want on television speaking their words, you know?” said the Emmy winner.
O’Donnell appeared on “The View” from 2006 to 2007, and briefly from 2014 to 2015. He got into a heated argument with Hasselbeck, 49, while on the show.
In May 2007, the two argued over the Iraq war and producers cut a split screen to show both women, a move that still angers O’Donnell.
“Are you still upset that the director went to the dividing screen?” Cohen asked.
“Yeah, I’m still mad,” he replied. “Believe me. My mother knows how to hold grudges.”
Last year, O’Donnell alleged that the split screen was staged.
“Our producer [was] not a fly type of guy … he wouldn’t be like, ‘Let’s go to the dividing screen.’ That was fixed,” he said in a radio interview.
After the saga, the “Sleepless in Seattle” star asked to be released from her contract with ABC.
O’Donnell currently lives in Ireland, moving there with her 13-year-old son, Clay, in January 2025 after the 2024 presidential election.
He has been at odds with Trump for years, but their feud came to a head in July 2025 when he threatened to revoke O’Donnell’s citizenship, something he cannot do.
O’Donnell hit back, writing on Instagram, “The president of the USA has always hated the fact that I see him for what he is – a criminal who sexually assaults a liar to hurt our nation to work for him – that’s why I moved to Ireland.”
She will be away this summer to perform her new one-woman show, “Common Knowledge,” on Broadway.
