Fire Country’s Bode Fight About Tyler Caused Vince’s Death

Land of Fire‘s Bode makes it clear that he cannot forget Tyler after Chloe’s son admitted that he caused the death of Vince.
In Us WeeklyAn exclusive clip from the Friday, March 6, episode of the hit CBS series, Bode (Max Thieriot) is visited by Chloe (Alona Tal), who asks her for help with Tyler (Conor Sherry). Bode, however, has no sympathy for the teenager who caused the fire that killed his father, Vince (Billy Burke).
“You lit up half of Edgewater,” Bode tells Chloe. “Why is Tyler assuming something so bad if he didn’t really do it?”
Chloe asks for Bode’s help to support Tyler, saying, “I know your family has done so much for my family. But Tyler doesn’t want to talk to me and he’s alone and he’s afraid of prison. I can’t help him. I know you cared about him. You and I both know he has the best shot at getting past him, so please.”
Bode shuts down Chloe’s request while calling Tyler a “lost cause.”
His strong reaction comes shortly after Tyler surrenders to the heat. Before the show’s mid-season return, showrunner Tia Napolitano revealed that the show’s storyline will undergo some changes.
“[You should] you are worried [about the rest of the season]. We have Bode and Tyler in a fire shelter in the middle of a raging fire. Those things are built for one, there are two people there,” said Napolitano Us Weekly in December 2025, one month before her departure from the CBS series was announced. “And we put Jake and his brother on the side of the cliff. You can see how many times this car is overturned. We see heads hitting hard places.”
Napolitano joked that “those are not easy to come back from,” adding, “We’re going to watch our people fight to get out of there.” He also teased a “big twist” coming in the second half of the season.
“It will change everything that affects Bode. He will really strive to continue to be on the path to development and growth that we like to see him on. He made those good decisions – even though he still struggled – and he overcame those struggles and become someone who can continue to be the person that Tyler wants to grow to be,” he said. “Bode is a good example. Look how far we have come.”
He continued: “Eve’s going to find her way with these new guys at Three Roc. Sharon’s learning more to stand on her own. Ruby – her mother – is coming back. There’s a lot of surprises, twists and turns and moves that come out of that twist at the end of the midseason premiere.”
After his exit from the show, the news came out on Thursday, March 5, that Eric Guggenheim will take over from Napolitano. According to Deadline, the Guggenheim will move in after serving as an exhibitor Magnum P.I and producer of Hawaii Five-0.
Land of Fire airs on CBS Fridays at 9 pm ET. New episodes air the next day on Paramount+.
