TikTok star Dr. Katie Hunter with her husband, Timothy Hunterthey were able to travel safely to the United Arab Emirates afterwards President Donald Trump announced joint US and Israeli military strikes on Iran.
“We are safe at home 😌. Thank you so much for all the messages coming in,” Katie wrote on Instagram on Saturday, February 28. “Hearing the news after being there recently felt so close to home. It’s a reminder of how quickly things can change, and how precious security is.”
The president announced in the early hours of Saturday that the United States and Israel launched a series of joint missiles at Iran.
“I do not make this statement lightly, the Iranian regime wants to kill,” said the president. “The lives of brave American heroes can be lost and we lose. That often happens in war, but we’re not doing this now, we’re doing this for the future and it’s a good job.”
A massive US and Israeli airstrike killed Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Trump, 79, later announced. The US military also confirmed that three soldiers were killed in the conflict – the first confirmed American casualties in the war.
As missiles were launched repeatedly across the Middle East, flights into and out of Dubai were canceled and warnings were sent to people urging them to take shelter in the area. (Katie and her husband Tim flew home a few days before the attack.)
“For now, I feel very grateful to ordinary people.” Noise, chaos, and falling,” Katie, a mother of three, added in her Saturday post. “My heart goes out to the families living in fear and uncertainty tonight. No parent should hold their child in conflict.”
According to Katie, she “was due back in Dubai in a few months” with her daughter, Amelia.
“For now, those plans will be thoroughly reviewed,” he said. “I’m so thankful to be home. And I’m thinking of those who can’t feel that peace tonight.”
Katie, a paramedic, went to Dubai with her husband, leaving their children back in Australia in the care of other relatives.
“Coming home from our first trip as parents and it was everything we didn’t realize we needed,” Katie captioned on Instagram late last month from an Emirates flight. “It was something luxurious and special, but the real luxury is the little people waiting for us at home ❤️.”
Katie and Tim left for Dubai on February 16.
“This is a big deal for us. It’s not the first time we’ve left them, but it’s the first time we’re going on vacation together,” the promoter wrote on Instagram at the time. “You can’t stop being a parent. Our children are in every thought, always in the midst of happiness. But this is also important.”
He added, “Time to rest. Time for me and @timthestayathomedad to reconnect. Time to remember, without routines and chaos. We are so thankful for the family that holds everything together at home, and already counting the days until we return to our little world. ❤️ Because even if you get a break… you still miss them a lot.”
Katie has more than 58,000 followers on Instagram and 300,000 followers on TikTok at the time of publication, where she provides glimpses into her life as an emergency medicine physician.
“[I] started med school at 17, became a doctor at 22, moved to Australia on my own at 24 [that] it was supposed to be ‘just a year,’” Katie recalled in a TikTok video from October 2025. “I met my now husband when I was 25 [and] I married my husband at the age of 31.”
After a year of marriage, Katie became an emergency physician and is now “well [her] the best life [her] good family” while working full time.
“I feel blessed every day,” he concluded.
