While speaking with Essence, Marvin Sapp broke down his history with La’Boris Cole, PhD, and how he pulled off his smooth proposal. Gospel Python turned his birthday into an amazing moment. She went in with Cole thinking they were just celebrating her, but their family waited inside, ready for the big reveal. Right there, he got down on one knee and asked the big question. Sapp shared that he and La’Boris formed a friendship that spanned more than a decade before they decided to take things to the next level. At first, they kept everything low. They protect both their friendship and romance until they are sure of how they want to move forward.
The ‘Never Would Have Made It’ singer also spoke about life after losing his wife and manager, Linda Prince Sapp, to colon cancer in 2010. MaLinda’s tragic passing led her to start living as a widow, while raising her three children. Years later, he officially decided to return to the dating scene. In an interview with 98.9 Kiss FM from Lagos, Nigeria, in 2022, Sapp said that when he saw his children grow and heal, he regained his strength. That’s when she knows she feels ready to build a new life — and a new love with someone special.
“I’m just a student this season and I’m really trying to learn how to go about it, how to deal with it. Prayerfully, hopefully, one day I’ll find him, and we’ll live all our days and make the best of our days,” Sapp reportedly explained at the time.
