Man Suspected of Biting Son at Restaurant During Public Outburst

A Tennessee man has been arrested after allegedly biting his baby on the cheek during an altercation at a chicken wing restaurant in Memphis.
The incident happened around 1:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, at Memphis Wings. The police reported to the scene after receiving reports that there is a man, who has been identified as Jerry Starkattacked his own child while inside the restaurant.
When they arrived, officers found Stark, 34, “screaming and panicking” inside the restaurant, according to an arrest affidavit seen by WREG.
Before the scandal broke out at the restaurant, Stark was said to have been seen at the Shell gas station near the Marathon gas station where he was asking people for help while holding a child, according to the store.
It is reported that Stark ran to Memphis Wings, went down to the kitchen floor and started squeezing the child until he was blue. It is said that he then bit the boy on the cheek before bystanders were able to safely remove the boy from him.
After entering the restaurant, Stark allegedly told customers that his family was trying to kill him and that he needed to run.
One witness took to Facebook to share a video of police reporting to the restaurant.
“Seeing that child’s face broke my heart,” the witness wrote alongside the clip. “I can’t even sleep thinking about that child,” said the man. “The devil is busy.”
Footage also captured people outside the restaurant as they closed the door to prevent Stark from leaving. “The baby’s skin is on the lips and cheek!” another witness was heard saying.
The boy was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-critical facial injuries. The child’s mother was contacted and told detectives that Stark pushed her out of a moving car before the incident and took their son with her, according to the affidavit.
While the boy was taken to the hospital, Stark was booked into the Shelby County Jail. He was charged with domestic assault causing injury.
It is not yet clear whether Stark has filed a plea or retained an attorney after his arrest. The Shelby Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond Us Weeklyrequest for comment on the case.
Stark is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning, May 5, according to court records reviewed Us.
