Fla. Woman Allegedly Beats Autistic Son After Kissing Classmate’s Cheek

A Miami, Florida woman has been arrested for allegedly hitting her son with autism by kissing his classmate on the cheek during school.
Authorities responded to the boy’s care plan after the operator said a teacher saw his injuries, according to a police report.
Police said the 7-year-old boy was in “visible danger” when he participated in a child protection interview with a case coordinator from the University of Miami Child Protection Team, according to Local 10.
The boy was called in for an interview after an investigator from the Department of Children and Families made a presentation, according to police.
“I saw the injury of red dots on his right eye, a visible wound from the right side of his cheek to the back of his right ear (purple and red), lines on his left arm, and bruises on the back of his legs,” wrote a police officer after they responded to the boy’s care program on February 24, according to a police report seen by this outlet.
While speaking to authorities, the boy said his mother, Kelly Michelhe used a brown belt to cause injury. He then said that he hit her following an incident that happened while he was at school.
“His classmate fell at school, kissed him on the cheek hoping he would feel better,” the officer wrote, according to the report. “Some of the students told the teacher,” and “the teacher then informed the victim’s parents.”
The case coordinator for the University of Miami Child Protection Team concluded that the boy had to be “removed from the home,” and the officer took him to the police department’s special unit.
Michel, 27, was arrested two days later on February 26 at 7:30 in the evening in the Overtown area of Miami, according to the outlet. He was then booked at midnight on February 27 at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
According to the affidavit viewed by Law & Crime, Michel allegedly agreed to use a belt to beat the boy when he arrived at the police station to pick up his son.
“He added that he hit her several times in the arm and buttocks,” the affidavit said, at the store. “He also said that because he was walking, the belt opened and hit him in the eye.
He is currently charged with child abuse without injury. It is not yet clear whether he has applied or if he still has representation after his arrest.
The Miami Police Department did not immediately respond Us Weeklyrequest for comment.
Michel appeared in bond court after his arrest on February 27 and a judge ordered him to have no contact with his son, according to CBS Miami.
It is reported that she works as an assistant director of the National Women’s Shelter Network, in each area. However, his colleagues refused to comment and asked the CBS Miami reporter to leave when he visited the organization to discuss the matter.
