Videos circulating on social media show Deon Wiley while posting an ad holding a stack of cash. In every clip, Deon stands next to his date in a gray suit while holding money. According to MLive, Deon’s death has left Saginaw United High School in mourning after reports revealed that he was shot and killed outside a grocery store following a promotional event on Friday, May 22. The incident appears to be an open case as recent reports indicate that no suspects have been arrested.
During the school’s graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 26, Deon’s mother, Precious Shermanhe crossed the stage and accepted his diploma in his honor. As members of the Class of 2026 walked across the stage to receive their diplomas, Saginaw United Principal Eric Gordon paused to give Deon his moment. The photos show Deon’s mother taking the stage wearing the same gray cap as Deon’s classmate.
“We are celebrating because we started the journey 13 years ago when we started kindergarten. We are crying because our friend, fellow student, Deon Wiley, is not here to celebrate. Remember Deon in everything he came with, as a friend, as a colleague, as a student,” said Principal Gordon during the graduation ceremony.

Attorney Ben Crump talks about Deon’s passing
After news of Deon’s passing spread on social media, attorney Ben Crump spoke out on Instagram. She also posted a video of Deon and shared a GoFundMe campaign created to help cover his funeral expenses.
