The Handmaid’s Tale a spinoff Testaments made another change in Gilead – and the official trailer reveals that June’s daughter is in the lead.
Hulu released a first look on Thursday, March 5, where Chase the Infiniti appears as Agnes, formerly known as Hannah.
“I’m not sure what year it was. I know I still have my doll. It looked just like our real house,” Agnes said in a loud voice as “Dreams” by the Cranberries played in the background. “We were always busy with some dolls, others were doing important work, there is a little girl doll.
A peek shows that these scenes are from the past, Agnes adds, “At that time, we still believed in this world. I think it’s easier to accept the story than to believe that the people around you are monsters.”
Agnes’s path to Gilead changes once Daisy (Lucy Halliday) joins their school, run by Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd).
I think Canada is a lot different than here. Which makes me wonder, why did you come here? Agnes asks Daisy, who seems to have ulterior motives.
Aunt Lydia, on the other hand, seems to be focused on restoring “women to their rightful place,” but not everyone believes the Gilead campaign as the revolution begins.
“There comes a time when you have to take action. But you have to choose your own future,” Agnes teased. “We didn’t know what to do. It was time to change things.”
Based on Margaret Atwoodthe novel of the same name, on Hulu The Handmaid’s Tale takes place in a dystopian future where low fertility rates lead women to be assigned to men in order to have children. The series aired from 2017 to 2025.
Testamentsdebuting on April 8, it’s set 15 years later in the book (and three to four years later in the show). Dowd’s Aunt Lydia serves as narrator as viewers are transported back to the dystopian future. Agnes and Daisy pose as the “Pearl Girls” to sneak into Canada in an attempt to smuggle incriminating information about the Gilead empire, while Aunt Lydia works as an undercover source in Gilead.
In addition to Infiniti, Halliday and Dowd, the stars of The Testaments Eva Foote, Rowan Blanchard, Kira Guloien, Amy Seimetz again Brad Alexander. Birva Pandya, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Mattea Conforti, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Mabel Li again Isolde Ardies make other characters.
Creator Bruce Miller it was previously revealed how closely the series will follow Atwood’s book Testamentsindicating that it “will not directly follow” the novel.
“Margaret writes these special characters,” he told TVLine in 2022. “We had to get rid of the Handmaid’s, and we have to get rid of the Testament.
Recently, The Handmaid’s Tale the show Yahlin Chang teased how the show will begin, telling TV Insider in March 2025 that The Handmaid’s Tale’s sixth season wrapped up some plot points in “very satisfying ways.”
“Any fans left wanting more will get more from Testament, which will be great for them,” Chang continued. “But it ends in ways that satisfy most of the story lines, but not all of them.”
Testaments will premiere on Hulu April 8.
