Warner Bros’ One Battle After Another, Netflix’s Frankenstein again KPop Demon Hunters and Disney/Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps received top film honors at the 30th annual Art Directors Guild awards, presented Saturday night at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown. Three Apple TV series won ADGs tonight. Emmy winner Julie Berghoff Studio took the Half Hour Single Camera Series award, Jeremy Hindle won the One-Hour Contemporary Single-Camera Series award Separation and Jon Carlos followed by taking the Period-Single-Camera award The Palm Royale.
Luke Hull won the award for One-Hour Fantasy Series on Disney+ which has now wrapped Andor. I star Wars the series also won at the VES Awards on Wednesday. He was unable to attend the ADG event as he was working in the UK.
Hulu’s Glenda Rovello season one Mid-Century Modern won by multiple camera series.
Production designers Akira Yoshimura, Keith Ian Raywood, N. Joseph De Tullio and Andrea Purcigliott took home the award for Variety or Reality Series for NBC’s Lady Gaga-hosted episode Saturday Night Live. The trio of Yoshimura, Raywood and De Tullio followed with another win SNL 50: The Anniversary Special
The Monster: The Ed Gein StoryMatthew Flood Ferguson won for TV Movie or Limited Series.
The organization presented a number of special awards this evening. They are not bad again Bad: Good filmmaker Jon M. He won the ADG award three times Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Avengers: Endgame and a Call of Duty ad whose credits include many images of heroes including Captain Marvel again Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Production designer Thomas E. Sanders, two-time Oscar nominee Saving Private Ryan again Bram Stoker’s Dracula he also worked A brave heart and many other films, will be posthumously inducted into the ADG Hall of Fame. He died of cancer in 2017 at the age of 63.
Black Men helmer Barry Sonnenfeld presented the evening’s second work honor to production designer Bo Welch. He has been nominated four times for the Oscars Men in Black, The Birdcage, A Little Princess again Purple Color and two-time Emmy nominee whose credits include these two men in Black pictures, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, Wild Wild West, A Series of Unfortunate Events again Schmigadoon!
Scenic artist Stephen McNally also received a lifetime achievement honor this evening. His resume includes films like Poison and its sequence, Steve Jobs, Twisted, What Dreams May Come again Flubber and TV series Trauma again Parenthood. It was introduced by “colleague, friend and paint slinger” James Shefik.
Storyboard artist and production designer Tom Southwell received final billing. Many of his films cover different genres since Blade Runner, The Muppet Movie, Romance the Stone again The Goons to Golden Child, Major League again City Slickers to Mission: Impossible, X-Men again Star Trek: Nemesis. Rin Underwood presented the award.
Production designer Thomas E. Sanders, two-time Oscar nominee Saving Private Ryan again Bram Stoker’s Dracula he also worked A brave heart and many other films, were posthumously inducted into the ADG Hall of Fame. One of Thomas’ achievements was his work with Guillermo del Toro during the horror-thriller. Crimson Peakits gothic, richly textured and haunting production design defines the tone and atmosphere of the film. His last project was with Justin Lin Star Trek Beyond in 2015.
Writer-director Randall Wallace made the announcement. Thomas died of cancer in 2017 at the age of 63.

The In Memoriam section paid tribute to several professionals we lost last year: Vance Lorenzini, Stuart Craig, Scott Herbertson, Noele King, E. Jay Krause, Julia Levine, Dean Mitzner, Stephen Runninger, Frankie Smith, Jonathan Velasco, Les Dilley and Barbara Hall.
Veteran comedian, actor and voice-over artist Ron Funches hosted the show, which celebrated the creation of the world through motion pictures, television, shorts and music videos and commercials.
