Todd Meadows was more than a deckhand Deadliest Catch — and he was a devoted father and faithful friend who “does what he pleases.”
His life was tragically cut short at the age of 25 after a “fishing-related incident” while filming a show on February 25, 2026, a sad reminder of the environmental dangers associated with fishing off the coast of Alaska. Meadows leaves behind three young sons whose lives will forever reflect the strength and spirit he carried.
Captain Rick Shelford broke the tragic news on March 2, 2026, describing the day Meadows died as “the saddest day in the history of the Aleutian Islands in the Bering Sea.”
Sources told TMZ that a memo was sent to producers informing them of the incident that occurred while they were out in the Alaskan waters, and also offered resources to the cast and crew who were grieving the death of their co-stars. It is not clear if cameras caught the accident on tape.

Who is Todd Meadows?
Todd Meadows is from Montesano, Washington. He joined the Aleutian Lady crew as a deckhand in May 2025, according to his Facebook page. The last photo of him on board was shared on February 17, 2026, a few days before his death.
Meadows was a new member of the Aleutian Lady crew, but she “quickly became family,” Captain Rick Shelford shared in his tribute. “His passion for fishing and his hard work immediately won everyone’s respect,” added Shelford. “His smile was contagious, and the sound of his laughter coming up the wheelhouse stairs or over the deck hailer is something we will always carry with us.”

Kennedy Harveywho shared three boys with Todd Meadows, vowed to keep his memory alive.
“You are not only the father of my children but you were my best friend. No matter what circumstances we lived in we always found comfort and no one understood why except us,” he wrote in part on Facebook on February 26, 2026.

Lambert praised the men on board who tried to help, as well as the United States Coast Guard “for everything they did to save you.” He continued, “I know no one can be blamed for this, but it doesn’t make it easy to digest.”
Rozlyn MeadowsMeadows’ sister, also responded to the tribute on Facebook, writing, “I love my brother so much and I’m so glad so many other people know him too! He will be greatly missed.”

Working as a deckhand in the Bering Sea comes with several risks, including extreme weather – especially in the winter crab industry – rough seas and long hours. Many potential hazards include drowning, being crushed by heavy machinery, hypothermia and falling onto icy decks.
The cause of Meadows’ death has not been announced.
