Trump’s plans for US-Iran peace: Letters

Issue: President Trump says US-Iran peace is close, despite Tehran’s refusal to give up its uranium.

I like President Trump and think he started with the right strategy for Iran (“Don: ‘Oh,’ I’m not going to make a bad deal,” May 25).

I also thought the two-week ceasefire was wise.

It gave America time to rearm, rest our pilots and bring in a third company fighter group.

However, after six weeks of allowing Iran to proceed, arm and export military equipment, there is still no deal.

This is starting to sound like Neville Chamberlain’s “Peace in our time” song to me.

One must be deluded to believe that terrorist killers can be dealt with through negotiations or that they will honor any agreement they “agree to”.

It’s time to finish the booth and answer our spirit carriers.

Iran’s bow offers a brief opportunity to end the nearly century-old deadly threat of an evil regime to its people, the region and the world.

It cannot be trusted to abide by any agreement.

If allowed to survive, with its newly demonstrated ability to control the Strait of Hormuz, Iran will pose serious risks.

Trump promised the Iranian people that “help is on the way.”

Now is not the time to go back.

The end must be near soon!

Trump used his vast skill set, backed by his undisputed victories, and brought Tehran to the negotiating table.

One false move on Tehran’s part and Tehran’s bridges and power plants will surely be wiped out.

Our “peace president” is giving them another chance.

I pray that the American people and elected officials will follow suit.

Previous US presidents may wonder why they never confronted the Iranian regime decisively.

There should be no easing of sanctions, postponement of the nuke talks or opening of the strait before the enriched uranium is removed from Iran.

Iran will never release nuke dust if its income increases.

If a peace agreement is reached, I sincerely hope that Iran will drop its “Death to America” mentality.

It’s wrong and it’s been going on for a long time – time to put it down.

Issue: Disney’s petition asking the FCC to classify “The View” as a legitimate news program.

The Federal Communications Commission is requesting public comment on relisting “The View” as a certified news presentation (“Disney dream,” May 24).

If Disney labels it as a news program, we should go all the way and re-list “Saturday Night Live” as a news program and designate the Onion as an official national newspaper.

What kind of news does “The View” broadcast?

Hate, lies, misinformation?

Certainly nothing of interest to the general public.

Why ABC didn’t cancel it is beyond anyone’s guess.

I truly believe that the producers are afraid of Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar.

Almost 30 years ago, when Barbara Walters started a show where women with different opinions could talk, she wasn’t stopping a news show.

There can only be spontaneous conversation and personal opinions of hosts and guests.

The only newsworthy thing about “The View” is the drama of its heated exchanges, arguments and explosive arguments.

An honest news show shouldn’t have “view” in its title unless it’s called “Our View, and Our View Only.”
