California’s America 250 school event is getting a backlash for all the wrong reasons

You know the left part of our nation is in a big trouble when “woke” parents decide to keep their children out of school because of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
As the California Post reported, Canyon Hills Junior High School in Chino Hills hosted an event called “History Rocks 250.”
There was nothing partisan or adversarial about it at all. It was simply an expression of patriotism and a celebration of American history.
That’s the kind of thing that causes the left today. According to “progressives” and those steeped in Critical Race Theory, the birth of America was an act of original sin with stains that can never truly be erased.
They believe that American history is a long series of depressing events, with white supremacy at the top of the tower of misery.
But in Chino Hills, the cause of the backlash was even clearer: a patriotic event sponsored by Turning Point USA and the Heritage Foundation.
Liberal groups have a disproportionate role in school curricula. But if two normal groups think raising the flag for the day is a good idea, all hell breaks loose on the left.
One can only feel sorry for the parents who take their children out of class for the day. They have been brainwashed by the liberal media. They are victims of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS), according to which anything President Donald Trump does must be wrong, even if he likes it; and anyone who supports Trump should be avoided, even if they are your friend, relative, or neighbor.
Joining an American celebration that happens to be put together by Turning Point USA and the Heritage Foundation doesn’t mean agreeing with everything those groups believe. Similarly, studying civil rights at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) does not mean endorsing all the controversial positions taken by the ACLU.
This is the kind of madness that divides America. Is it really possible that a part of our country will not celebrate the anniversary of our independence when the other part seems to enjoy it a lot?
The Civil War ended in 1865. More than half of our country’s history has taken place since then.
Let’s remember the words of the Second Inaugural Ceremony of Abraham Lincoln: “With no hatred for anyone, with charity for all people, with the strength of what is right as God gives us to see what is right, let us strive to finish the work we are in.”
We have a lot to do if we want to secure the future of freedom in our next 250 years. It will take all of us, left and right, working together, to make it happen.
