A social worker for NYC public schools posted pictures of bugs in a video of Jews celebrating the holidays

A NYC Department of Education social worker who is an ambassador for her high school’s anti-bullying program is accused of posting humiliating photos under a video of Orthodox Jews, with critics saying the images echo “Nazi propaganda,” the Post said.

Lauren Camiolo, a social worker at Chelsea’s Landmark High School, uploaded pictures of the beetles four separate times in response to a Facebook video of men celebrating Lag B’Omer, which commemorates the death of one of the founders of Jewish mysticism, or Kabbalah.

Critics slammed the social worker’s post comparing Jews to vermin, and said the image came straight from Nazi Germany.

“That is a very dangerous and anti-Semitic series from Nazi Germany, where Hitler would classify Jews as humans and insects.” “He said that in order to restore Germany’s greatness, they had to exterminate these pests,” said New York City Public Schools Alliance President Karen Feldman.

Camiolo, 40, a program recorder has worked at the DOE since at least 2020, ironically serving as the school’s Honors Coordinator, the DOE website said. He earned $115,665 in 2025, public records show.

The Respect for All program is designed to combat bullying and help schools “promote and maintain safe learning environments that are supportive, inclusive, and free from discrimination, harassment, and intimidation of any kind,” the DOE website says.

“When a Jewish student faces discrimination or bias, there is no one to turn to if Respect for All links traffics in antisemitism … many children are hurt,” he added.

“Hitler used to call Jewish people insects and vermin… This is a direct act of anti-Semitism. Too many teachers are using their political beliefs to harm Jewish students and fellow teachers,” said United Jewish Teachers President Moshe Spern.

“When someone with a responsibility to ‘respect all’ shows hostility toward Jews or white students, it raises serious concerns for both the teacher and the school system in which they work,” said David Bernstein, founder of the North American Values Institute.

“Bullying and harassment have no place in any of NYC’s 1,800+ schools, regardless of race, color, age, religion, national origin, national origin, citizenship/immigration status, religion, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual preference, disability, or weight,” the website says.

The DOE employee’s social media is full of anti-Israel and anti-white comments.

“The bloodshed of extermination of women and children in the holy land by colonists in the name of God they will never know,” he wrote on Facebook March 18, 2025, over a picture of what appears to be the Ten Commandments.

“Chosen people don’t steal and favor those who create,” he wrote on Facebook on July 30, 2025.

“Zionism is a cult of people who cannot think for themselves,” he wrote on Facebook on October 20, 2025.

“The Victim Syndrome of the white colonizers is an art how to measure the blood of children,” he posted two days later.

“Three key achievements of #whitemediocracy colonization, genocide, and cultural appropriation #Blackwomeninwhitefields,” she wrote on Facebook in November 2024.

“Don’t ever trust a white woman,” she captioned a photo of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton greeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Camiolo threatened to call the police when contacted by The Post for comment and accused the newspaper of harassment.

“I’m Jewish… and I’m biracial, now I’m going to go to the police and show them these stalking and harassing messages… I’m afraid for me and my sons. [sic] safety,” he wrote.

Only 294 students attend Landmark High School, which was founded in 1994, and its students do not take Regents to graduate, but instead complete written or oral projects.

A high school source called Camiolo “consistent.”

“The kids don’t want to talk to him, they say he’s ‘crazy,’ he’s a strong and good person and he tells the teachers they’re doing wrong… a lot of people have problems with his behavior as a social worker,” said the source.

The spokesperson of the Department of Education criticized this and vowed to stand up for them.

“Hate has absolutely no place in our schools or in our city, and we unequivocally condemn any behavior that demonstrates intolerance and discrimination. Any employees who display this behavior will be investigated and disciplined accordingly,” the spokesperson said.
