Baseball players embrace the true meaning of God’s rainbow

The gay rights movement adopted the rainbow as its symbol decades ago.
The idea was that since the rainbow contains all colors, our society should accept all types of people and preferences.
But there is one type of person that is clearly unacceptable: the Christian who believes the Bible means what it says.
San Francisco Giants baseball players who refuse to participate in Pride month, often quote the Bible on their caps. The passage they chose: Genesis 9:12-16.
“And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for generations of eternity.
“I will place my rainbow in the cloud, as a sign of the agreement between Me and the world.
“When I bring down a cloud over the earth, a rainbow will appear in the cloud;
I remember my covenant between me and all living creatures of all flesh; the water will no longer be a flood to destroy all flesh.
The rainbow will be in the cloud, and I will look at it to remember the eternal covenant between God and all living creatures of all flesh on earth.’”
Those words tell us the true story of the origin of the rainbow.
God put a rainbow in the heavens after the Flood, when he punished the world for its evil ways.
It was a symbol of a new beginning. God knew that the world would not be free from sin, but He also knew that He would not continue to destroy it and start over.

Instead of destruction, there would be redemption.
For the Jews, that deliverance would come through repentance, and a journey to the Promised Land of Israel.
For Christians, that final deliverance would come through Christ, who forgives the sins of those who seek Him.
All that is predicted by the rainbow.
The protesting baseball players do not represent someone. They are standing up for their basic rights: freedom of speech, and freedom of religion.
They did not seek this contradiction. However, they rose to this test of their faith.
Freedom of speech, and freedom of religion, are not just American rights. These are God-given rights previously incorporated by the Founding Fathers into our governing documents.
More powerful, however, than that truth is the truth of the Bible, which makes it clear that God is the designer and creator of mankind, male and female, and that in doing so he has built in us the passion and ability to reveal the truth.
But not all situations represent reality. Those in professional baseball who support Pride month want their freedom and their rights to confess and proclaim what they believe. They want to make a statement and influence culture. Yet why is that same freedom not allowed to those who represent Christ?
There is a terrible hypocrisy in our culture today that seeks to indoctrinate and exploit those who may hold a dissenting opinion. Christians are told to get in line and practice, and are warned that they will be disciplined for disagreeing with whoever is in charge. That is the very opposite of tolerance, and it shows that Pride month is not about accepting everyone, but about setting a new set of beliefs.
Baseball players who refuse to participate in Pride month, or who quote the Bible, have used their freedom of speech and God-given opportunity to proclaim the truth.
It is a sad day in America when we have lost the ability to tolerate another person’s opinion. And it is becoming clear that the LBGTQ+ agenda cannot tolerate the Judeo-Christian worldview of God’s eternal design.
