He fired the Virginia DA who let an alleged immigration murderer get away with taking a huge Soros fortune

The top prosecutor in Virginia who repeatedly dropped charges against a violent immigrant accused of killing a woman at a bus stop has received hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from arch-left financier George Soros.
Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano received more than $650,000 from Soros-funded groups in his successful 2019 bid to unseat former Fairfax County CA Raymond F. Morrogh in the Democratic primary, public records revealed.
Descano received $601,153 from the Soros-funded Justice and Public Safety PAC in that race and $57,685 from his second-largest donor, the Virginia-based group New Va Majority, according to public records.
The New Va Majority received a $1 million grant through Soros’ Open Society Policy Center in 2019, and has received more than $1 million in Soros funding since then.
Descano received $26,500 from the Justice and Public Safety PAC and $56,293 from New Va Majority for his 2023 re-election campaign, records show.
Soros’ heavy donations were almost unheard of for a local race involving a commonwealth representative, Virginia’s equivalent of a state representative.
“Sometimes Soros will just put in, you know, one or $200,000 of DA, for Descano, a truckload of money really came back to him,” Capital Research Center researcher Parker Thayer told The Post.
The Hungarian-born left-wing philanthropist has poured millions into left-leaning political races through dozens of charities and political committees.
Soros has donated at least $35 million to state district attorney races since 2016, according to Thayer.
“It’s not Soros that you can throw a lot of money into district attorney races, especially in Democratic primaries in blue cities and they can choose the DA because the Democratic candidate will probably win,” Thayer said.
A sleepy prosecutor has been embroiled in controversy after Sierra Leonean immigrant Abdul Jalloh is accused of killing mother Stephanie Minter, 41, at a bus stop in Virginia last week.
Jalloh, 32, had a long history of rap offenses including rape, assault and fraud – more than a dozen of which were dismissed by Descano’s team.
It’s not the first time Descano has let a violent illegal immigrant get off easy.
In 2022, Descano allowed Honduran immigrant Denis Humberto Navarette Romero to plead guilty during his trial for assaulting a Herndon police officer. Descano made the deal without comment from the police department.
Romero, 32, who had a long rap sheet for crimes ranging from drug possession to sexual assault, went on to allegedly rape a woman on a popular hiking trail outside of DC, and is currently in jail awaiting trial.
“Descano’s incompetence in the law and indifference to victims is by design — he’s using the playbook they gave him to sacrifice the community on the altar of anti-crime ideology,” Virginias for Safe Communities President Sean Kennedy told The Post.
