Trump’s army hits record 10,000 arrests in DC crime spree

INTERMEDIATE: President Donald Trump’s Make DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force has made more than 10,000 arrests since it began in August 2025, and found more than 1,000 illegal guns on the streets of the nation’s capital, Fox News Digital has learned.

“President Trump’s operation in Washington, DC has saved lives and helped restore our Nation’s beautiful capital for all Americans to enjoy,” Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a statement on Fox News Digital. “Thanks to the courageous work of Gady Serralta’s Marshals, other parts of the DOJ, and our key federal partners, we have proven that tolerance for crime is a policy decision – we choose public safety.”

As of Thursday morning, the task force has made 10,018 arrests and recovered 1,036 illegal firearms, Fox News Digital said.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department, along with the National Guard and personnel from federal agencies such as the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, Capitol Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, have taken to the streets of DC to sweep and eliminate crime starting in August 2025 as part of Trump’s sweeping crime spree.

Trump signed the Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful order in March 2025, which established the task force. US Marshals Service Director Gadyaces S. Serralta leads the law enforcement partnership of a joint task force that includes 3,100 personnel from 28 agencies to conduct a crime operation in the city.

Trump took a hard line against the high-profile attacks and homicides that occurred in the city in early 2025, which followed the District’s recovery from high crime rates since the COVID-19 pandemic, including a disturbing wave of young adults committing violent crimes such as armed carjacking.

Now, crime is down as the administration fights Trump’s law and order breakdown.

Overall, homicides in the region are down 68% compared to the same period in 2025, robberies are down 47%, sexual assault is down 64%, and violent crime across the board is down 31%, according to data provided by Fox News Digital.

The task force found or located 19 missing children during the campaign.

“The era of unprovoked violence is over,” said US Attorney Jeanine Pirro in a statement sent to Fox News Digital.

“President Trump’s no-nonsense strategy to restore law and order, an increase in law enforcement resources, combined with aggressive prosecution of violent criminals, is producing real, measurable results,” Pirro said. “I came here to fight street crime in the nation’s capital and since then homicides have dropped to the lowest level in history, and violent crime has dropped dramatically. Those who prey on our communities are being arrested, prosecuted and convicted.”

Arrests were made for 28 murders, 1,693 for drugs, 874 for weapons, 34 for sex and the arrest of 52 known gang members.

Among the high-profile arrests were the arrests of three youths suspected of shooting and killing 21-year-old congressional student Eric Tarpinian-Jachym in June 2025. Tarpinian-Jachym was shot while walking near the DC Convention Center when he was hit by an unintentional bullet, according to investigators.

His shocking death was the catalyst for Trump’s crime spree.

Another young couple, Laurence Cotton-Powell, 19, and Anthony Taylor, 18, were arrested in October 2025 for allegedly attempting to carjack, rob and assault a DOGE employee in August 2025.

Task force leader Serralta said in an interview with Fox News Digital that the 10,000 arrests marked a “huge success.”

“By removing 1,000 illegal guns from the streets of DC and making 10,000 arrests, we achieved unprecedented results, not just for the Task Force, but for all residents, commuters, students and visitors to Washington, DC,” Seerralta said. “But rest assured, our work is not done. Washington, DC” is the beating heart of our great Nation, and we will not stop until we fulfill President Trump’s promise to make its communities safe again.”

Other arrests include the arrest of Alvin Young, 47, who was charged with first-degree murder following a mass shooting in March 2022. There was also the December 2025 arrest of a man named Christopher Watts, who had a warrant out of Florida for cruelty to a child, promoting sexual activity and soliciting a child via computer, Fox News Digital.

Another man, Richard Brown, was arrested in early February on a long list of charges, including possession of a machine gun, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm and ammunition, possession of a large feeding device, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, two counts of receiving stolen property, unlawful breaking into a motor vehicle and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle. drive, Fox News Digital has learned.
