Rumer Willis has slammed the belief that she lives off a “trust fund” from her famous parents.
Rumer, 37, said she doesn’t get financial help from Demi Moore or Bruce Willis as she raises her daughter as a single mom in an Instagram story posted Monday. The “Now and Then” actor insisted on working four jobs as the sole breadwinner for his two-year-old daughter, Louetta.
“I had to clarify because there seems to be a few ignorant and disrespectful people in my comments on this post,” Willis wrote on Instagram. “I work 4 different jobs to take care of my daughter. I’m the only one who takes care of her. I don’t live on a trust fund or get money from my parents. Most of the time I don’t have help with it. So what can you say before you judge and think.”

Rumer doubled down after receiving a lengthy message about having a safety net that most people can’t count on.
“But the truth is you have support that will always be there for you when you run into financial trouble,” someone said in response to Willis’ Instagram story. “Your family won’t let you get into a lot of debt that could lead to homelessness, for example.”
“Having this support is something that most people don’t have,” the message continued. “And ignoring that makes those who don’t have it feel like your entitlement comes off as arrogant and like you’re taking it for granted. Yes, you have all those things listed in your mind, but a lot of other people have the added stress of making sure they can make the rent and the bills each month coz [sic] if they weren’t they would be on the street.”

Rumer answered directly, recoiling at the idea that he was unaware of her beauty.
“I’m well aware that I have rights in my life that many people don’t have, and I don’t take that for granted,” he explained. “I know there are facts that I can’t see fully, and I respect that. But this post wasn’t about privilege or comparing situations, and it sounds like people thought I was ignoring that when that wasn’t the conversation I was trying to have.”
She stressed that previously she was the only one who provided for many people while she was traveling around pregnant and in incompatible jobs. Rumer was impressed by the idea that he doesn’t work or doesn’t understand financial pressure.
“I don’t live my life treating family support as a backup plan,” he added. “I take great pride in taking care of myself and my daughter, and I’m burdened financially and responsibly.”

Rumer said his goal was to focus on shared experiences, not to minimize differences or ignore reality. He also added that there is room to sympathize with the struggles of others while a person speaks the truth about his life, without making it a competition.

She confirmed her separation from Thomas in 2024.
“Nope I am single momming it and co-parenting,” she wrote on Instagram at the time when asked if the two were still together, according to People. “I’m so thankful for Lou. He’s the best thing in my life and I’m always thankful that I was able to have time in that relationship for him to come into my life.”
