Missing 3-Year-Old Found After Father Killed His Mother and Shot His Sister

A missing three-year-old child has been found safe after his father killed the boy’s mother and shot his sister, fleeing the scene as he left “blood” crying.

The police found the little boy’s mother murdered, Rayven Amuan Edwardswhen they responded to a home in Washington, DC after receiving a report of a shooting on Wednesday, February 11, the DC Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.

Edwards’ daughter, 10, was also shot at the scene. However, authorities have confirmed that the girl survived with non-life threatening injuries.

Stephon Marquis Jeterwho shared a three-year-old son with Edwards, 34, was quickly named as a suspect in the incident. Detectives found that Jeter, 35, fled with his son in a black truck, according to the statement.

After the police identified Jeter as the suspect, they sent the public pictures of him and his car in an effort to find him.

Later that day, officers with the Prince George’s County Police Department found Edwards’ car in Maryland. They then started following him before the car crashed, according to the statement.

Police found Jeter inside the car, where he had already died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His body was then taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

While Jeter was successfully found, the child was not in the car at the time of the accident. Authorities immediately sent out an AMBER alert, and the boy was quickly located at a family member’s home in Prince George’s County. The police added that the boy was not injured following the incident.

Despite confirming the first shooting, authorities did not provide specific information about the circumstances of the incident or if there was a possible motive.

The police also said that at this time it is not clear whether Jeter and Edwards were married, how long they had been together or whether they lived in the house where the shooting took place.

However, the Chief of Police Jeffery Carroll confirmed to WTOP that it was a case of a “domestic” dispute that “went out of the house and into the hallway.”

“This is one of the saddest situations I’ve ever seen. An entire family is destroyed by the actions of one person,” added Carroll. “Our hearts are broken [to] every family involved in this.”

After Jeter’s shooting and death, a neighbor spoke to WUSA9 about the horrific consequences of the situation.

“I heard screams, what I thought were children. Blood gushing,” a neighbor told the store. “A little girl was there with blood running down her arm saying her stepfather just shot her mother and she thought she was dead.”

The DC Metropolitan Police Department concluded the press release by saying they wanted to “express their gratitude to our partners at the Prince George’s County Police Department for their assistance throughout this investigation.”

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to WTOP.

The DC Metropolitan Police Department said Us Weekly that they had no additional information to share about the case at press time.
