A pair of black gloves found near Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson-area home are now being tested for DNA, marking the latest development in the investigation into her disappearance.

Authorities said the gloves were found about a mile from his residence in the Catalina Foothills, though it is not yet known if they are connected to the masked man captured on home surveillance video.

Deputies and FBI agents were seen searching desert brush along a nearby road Wednesday into Thursday morning, focusing on an area about a mile from the area. Fox News Digital saw dozens of patrol cars and a police forensics truck at the scene as investigators waded through cactuses and rocks. Officials declined to discuss what led to the search.

Investigators also searched for doorbell carvings at homes in the area since Jan. 11 between 9 pm and midnight and from Jan. 31 between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., times the authorities believe are not important.

Savannah Guthrie shared the photos publicly and said her family believed their mother was still alive. He and his siblings have expressed their willingness to pay the ransom, although authorities have not confirmed whether the ransom messages being circulated are true or whether investigators have made direct contact with whoever is said to be responsible.
