Teacher Arrested for Touching Student Who Was Accused of Similar Behavior

A high school math teacher accused of putting his hand on a female student’s waist while they were alone in a classroom has a history of alleged inappropriate behavior in other Connecticut school districts, according to court documents.

A teacher at Darien High School Sean Boardman59, of Westbrook, was arrested on January 30 in connection with an alleged incident involving a student, which reportedly occurred while he was teaching him in November, according to authorities, WFSB reported.

He was charged with risk of injury to a child, court records viewed by Us Weekly the show.

Court records did not indicate whether Boardman had retained legal representation as of Tuesday afternoon, February 10.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by WTNH, a female student told investigators that Boardman inappropriately touched her on Nov. 21, when she met him before school for math help.

He found the blinds in the classroom fully closed when he arrived, the warrant said. After he got inside, the classroom door was allegedly kept closed, WTNH reported, citing documents.

The student said that while she and Boardman were alone in class, he touched her and moved her necklace, along with her hair, according to an arrest warrant obtained by WTNH. When he asked her about her previous hip injury, she accused him of putting his hand on her hip, the warrant said.

Darien Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric Byrne told WFSB that Boardman is on leave.

“On November 21, 2025, a serious concern involving one of our DHS teachers was brought to our attention,” Byrne said in a statement to the TV station. “We immediately dealt with the issue, reported it to the relevant authorities, and put the teacher on leave pending an investigation.”

According to the arrest warrant, there have been other inappropriate incidents involving Boardman at other Connecticut high schools dating back to December 2019, WFSB reported. The warrant reveals that there are many complaints made about him.

In December 2019, while Boardman was working at Nathan Hale Ray High School in Moodus, the principal found him alone with a female student on the floor of a locked classroom after school, according to an arrest warrant seen by the television station.

The principal saw music playing in the dark room, and that the student was sitting on a towel, the warrant said. Both the student and Boardman were described as sweating, WFSB reported.

The Department of Children and Families was notified of the incident, but Boardman was not arrested, according to the television station.

The agency also investigated allegations made by students and adults in April 2022, while he was coaching at Bunnell High School in Stratford, according to an arrest warrant, CT Insider reported.

He resigned from the school in May 2022, and was hired at Darien High School in June 2022, according to the outlet.

The Darien Police Department did not immediately respond to an investigation Us on February 10.

Boardman is due in court on Feb. 13, records show.
