The best Prime Day Kindle deals
Testing Kindles and e-readers is my job, but it’s also my passion. I use my Kindle Paperwhite every day – unless I’m checking out a new e-reader – and it accompanies me on many summer trips. So, while I spend a lot of time convincing Mashable readers to buy my favorite e-readers, I also keep track of the best times to buy an e-reader.
I can say with certainty that the best time to buy a Kindle is during the big sales, and with Amazon Prime Day 2026 coming up on June 23 to 26, I expect Kindles to reach the lowest prices. Amazon usually reserves the best Prime Day Kindle deals until the sale officially starts, but Kindle bundles almost always get discounted in the days and weeks before the big event.

If you really want a Kindle before Prime Day, your best bet is the Kindle Essentials Bundle. It includes the basic Kindle, priced at $109.99, but you can currently purchase the Essentials Bundle for $106.97. The bundle is a great value and includes the case and power adapter, making it a $161.97 value. Before the Big Day, you can enjoy savings of $55.

After tracking prices on Kindles for years, I have a pretty good idea of how much Amazon’s e-readers go for during sales. It’s always the same dance: The day before Prime Day, Amazon offers savings on a Kindle bundle, but the standalone devices don’t go on sale until Prime Day officially begins.

We tracked prices on the Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite over the past four sales to predict this year’s prices.

The Kindle Paperwhite’s lowest price ever was $124.99, which the device dropped on Black Friday, Prime Big Deals Days, and last year’s Prime Day. So, unless Amazon decides to give it a new lower price, we expect to see it drop to $124.99 on June 23.
For a budget-friendly purchase, the basic Kindle has seen even greater savings. The e-reader has a new, lowest price during Black Friday 2025 when it drops to $79.99. On this Big Day, I hope to see that $79.99 price again, but the $84.99 price might be higher.
