Which Sheriff Country Stars Are Not Returning For Season 2?

Sheriff’s Country is coming back for season 2 – but are all the characters coming back?

The town of Edgewater was started there Land of Fire premiered in 2022 with the prisoner Bode (Max Thieriot) returns home and volunteers at a California Conservation Camp program during season 1 of the hit show. In Season 2, the back-to-back pilot set the world of Sheriff’s Countrycentered around Sharon’s (Diane Farr) my sister Mickey (Morena Baccarin) as he solves crime in the city.

CBS was quick to renew Sheriff Country for December 2025 after its success on the network. According to a press release, Sheriff’s Country averaged 7.6 million viewers and is a “regular time slot” on Friday nights at 8 PM

The first season wrapped up in May 2026 with a shocking episode that featured DEA Deputy Director – Eva (Rachel Ticotin) – as Mickey’s presumed dead mother.

“We were told in the season 1 pilot that Mickey’s mother is dead and obviously she’s dead, she’s not part of the picture. [that she was secretly alive]and I destroyed it,” said runner-up Matt Lopez exclusively Us Weekly. “During the season, more and more writers come on board. I turned late because I don’t want to just turn a card to turn a card. If it gives us a really good story and reveals something about characters we care about and is based on real human emotions then I’m interested.”

Lopez is excited to bring that out in season 2.

“It’s reorganizing our family at the heart of this plan,” he teased. “And it speaks to all the struggles of the characters that we’ve given us to play. We’ll see in the first few episodes, Wes thinks he and Mickey are on the same page that they’ve both been betrayed by this woman. Mickey’s not like him and you can somehow make the case that Wes’ betrayal was worse. We’re going to get all of this out.”

He continued: “He hasn’t been part of the picture since Mickey was 5 or 6 years old and who owes Mickey a big debt of gratitude?

Looking ahead to the show’s future, Lopez said the return “will defy expectations,” adding, “It’s been a while but we’re going to fill it in like it’s happening in a place we haven’t seen. The emotional upheaval will take more than an episode and we’ve established this moving theme where Mickey hasn’t spoken to his father in 30 years and thought Mickey died. It’s got a good kind of engine out of the gate.”
