Bass Mocks Pratt’s Supporters; He says he violated the Election Laws

A week before the primary that could decide who will be the next mayor of Los Angeles, incumbent Karen Bass and dissident Spencer Pratt got legal and personal today in their war of campaign names.
The white gloves are off for a long time The hills alum is trying to use the loss of his Pacific Palisades home last year in a wildfire as a leapfrog to City Hall. But coming off a long weekend, Pratt hit Bass hard with claims of election law violations that may actually muddy the waters.
As Pratt accused Bass online of “reckless disregard for the rule of law,” a letter to the city clerk and a court filing from Pratt’s attorney Peter J. McNulty says a video from the front-running mayor clearly shows him “asking for votes” and “holding signs asking voters to vote for him.” Under California law, it is illegal to conduct an election within 100 feet of a polling station or drop-off ballot box.
Finding less is more, to the delight of some online pro-Pratt ads, Bass turned around after dark this morning.
“Spencer is just crazy that his fans are AI cartoons and we have real Angelenos,” the veteran politician said. “We follow the rules.”

Pratt’s attorney McNulty did not respond to Deadline’s request for comment on the mayor’s speech
“Someone in office should especially respect our democratic rules, but this is just a sign of Karen’s mafia-like regime,” said rich Pratt on Tuesday on the site X. ‘It’s your rules, but not mine,’ ” the resident of the Hotel Bel-Air continued, ignoring the anti-establishment position of June’s second vote.
In his first post, Pratt cited a video of Bass from late last week that seemed to prove his point.
However, according to the Bass campaign, two different locations were used for the May 24 patch. The portion with signs was more than 200 feet away from the ballot box, and there were no signs in the portion closest to the ballot box. Or, without the math: “This complaint is a blatant lie,” a spokesperson for the Bass campaign told Deadline.
