Are These 3 Rom-Coms Better Than Pretty Woman?

Pretty Woman is one of the most popular comics of all time. The rags-to-riches tale of a prostitute who falls in love with a wealthy businessman has captivated audiences around the world and it does Julia Roberts he became a movie star overnight.
But is it the best?
While Pretty Woman continues to endure as the high point of the rom-com genre, we feel that there are only three other comedy movies that can top it.
Watch With Us has compiled a list of rom-coms that we believe are the best Pretty Woman.
“The Princess Bride” (1987)
In bed recovering from illness, a young boy (Fred Savage) is visited by his grandfather (Peter Falk), which brings the sweet love story of Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright) and farm hand, Westley (Cary Elwes). Reluctant to be read a “love story,” the boy can’t help but be drawn into a thrilling tale of pirates, giants, a fight to the death and, ultimately, true love. After Buttercup falls in love with Westley while working for him, she goes on a quest to find them. In her absence, Buttercup is forcibly married to Prince Humperdink (Chris Sarandon), and Westley must return to fight for his soul.
Infused with love, compassion and humor that comes out with direction Rob Reiner and screenplay by William Goldman, The Princess Bride a timeless fantasy-adventure rom-com that will tug at your heartstrings as deeply as it will leave you in stitches. The post-modern fantasy is a clever blend of romance, action and comedy that takes familiar tropes of damsels in distress and turns them into something new and exciting. Almost 40 years later, The Princess Bride I still feel young.
‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ (2001)
32-year-old advertising assistant Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) decides that his life needs fixing, and at the beginning of the new year, he commits to keeping a diary to hold himself accountable for quitting smoking, drinking less and losing weight. Having narrowed down her thoughts about her attractive but womanizing boss, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), only in his diary, the two began to flirt in the office. But as soon as Bridget starts showing the life she wants to have she suddenly finds herself the object of love. two handsome men: Daniel and his former friend, Mark (Colin Firth).
Part of the reason Bridget Jones’s Diary endured for its authentic and unapologetic portrayal of a woman through the character of Bridget, a flawed woman struggling to navigate the modern dating hellscape. Bridget’s witty inner monologues are insightful and funny, making her a likable and memorable character. Ultimately, the movie is an honest look at the desire for love, connection and self-acceptance.
‘I Forgot Sarah Marshall’ (2008)
Composer Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) was previously known as the boyfriend of TV star Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell), but after he unfairly dumped her for British rockstar Aldous Snow (Russell Brand), Peter chose not to be there. Struggling with the breakup, Peter decides to help himself get over Sarah by booking a trip to Oahu, Hawaii – but when he gets there, he finds his ex already living there with her new boyfriend. Nevertheless, Peter tries to make the most of his ill-deserved vacation, when he befriends a beautiful woman who welcomes guests.Mila Kunis) and a surfing instructor (Paul Rudd).
I forgot Sarah Marshall it’s a rom-com that’s equal parts funny and tender; a warm-hearted look at forgiveness, getting over past hurts and finding new love that’s different in that it’s actually a romantic comedy aimed at men. Segel is outstanding in his role as the desperate and bitterly shamed Peter, and the film transcends any notions of being a superficial bro comedy with its subtle performances and well-developed cast. Also, Dracula’s universal puppet music is a true masterpiece.
