Anne Hathaway is finally cutting through the hype surrounding the internet’s latest plastic surgery.
After weeks of speculation that she had secretly gone under the knife, the Oscar winner admitted that her stunning red carpet look was down to an incredibly simple beauty hack – not a face lift.
Hathaway previously shared an Instagram video revealing a hairstyling trick used to subtly lift her face for a red carpet look. The technique involves “two small braids near each temple that are pulled back and pinned,” creating a naturally toned look.

In a new interview with Elle, she was asked if the video was a “direct response” to plastic surgery rumors.
“I wouldn’t say that I’m pointing out. But we’re in a time where people feel more confident in thinking what they think is true, and sometimes what they think is accurate and sometimes it’s not,” said Hathaway.
The “Devil Wears Prada” star admitted that she often prefers to keep quiet when it comes to public opinion about her appearance.
“My preference would be to not comment on anything and just stay in the dark and not draw attention to myself, but the speculation is so great that you feel the need to just reveal your truth,” he explained.

Hathaway also debunks the way people speculate about cosmetic procedures online.
“And, these are the biggest medical decisions people make,” she said. “I wanted to show that, like, no, I didn’t make a big medical decision. It’s just two braids.”

While reflecting on her rise to fame, Hathaway admitted that fear once consumed much of her childhood.
“One of the things about me was that she was really scared, and I think the fear made me more aggressive,” Hathaway told Elle. “I shudder to think that I might be unwittingly cruel to other people when I’m behaving badly. I actually feel nauseous thinking about it.”
