‘The Boys’ Finale Explained: Who Dies In ‘The Boys’ Series Finale?

It’s time to say goodbye to all your favorite guardians.
Prime Video superhero series Boys says goodbye to an hour-long finale that’s poignant and predictably hilarious. But series creator Eric Kripke told DECIDER that he hopes to make the finale feel like fans are “saying goodbye to friends, people you’ve known and followed for years and years.”
Kripke admitted that it was “not easy” to get all the moving parts of the finale – Kimiko’s superpowers, “Chekhov’s ball gag,” Ashley helping the Boys, etc., – to come together.
“It was satisfying and annoying after so long,” he said of the finale’s grand finale. “Everybody got their time. You know, even Hughie relied on his little technical knowledge. It was a long way to go.” Kripke was also somewhat happy with Homelander’s fitting ending, saying it was “very satisfying” and “fun to watch.”
Of course, the highly anticipated series finale gives everyone their moment in the spotlight and an ending that suits each unique character. Even Sister Sage always finds him happy, although it doesn’t look like what we would expect. While this episode has a more sensitive tone compared to the rest of the series, it’s still the brutal and gory show that fans of the show know and love.
Read on to learn everything you need to know about it Boys series finale. But remember, there are major spoilers ahead Boys Season 5, Episode 8, streaming now.
What happened in Boys the end? Who dies in the middle Boys the end?

Boys the finale opens with Frenchie’s funeral where he is buried by Butcher and MM Hughie reads his last will and testament as absurd and perverse as one would expect, where Frenchie elaborates on “seeing all your assholes.” Still, it’s a fitting farewell for everyone’s favorite evil genius.
Homelander visits Ryan in the remote cabin he’s been hiding in to convince him to join him. Ryan refuses and instead gives him a piece of his mind, telling him that accumulating more power will make him “lonelier, a sadder piece” in a poignant scene that really highlights young Cameron Crovetti’s acting skills.
Boys fans get one last chance to say goodbye to Gen V employees. Almost killed team members Dogknot and Sheline were hiding here with Marie Moreau, Emma and Jordan. Annie tries to convince Marie to help the survivors get to safety. Marie refuses and offers to help them take down Homelander, but Annie reminds her that helping these people survive is also a big part of being a hero. Annie admits she’s upset about the fight between Homelander and Vought. But, he reminds Marie, “It’s not about winning. After her sweet moment with Annie, Marie heads to Canada with Jordan, Emma and the survivors to get them to safety and reunite with the rest of their team.”
Before Frenchie was killed, he was conducting research and enlightening Kimiko in an attempt to give Soldier Boy abilities to overcome Supes’ powers. In the end, Sister Sage gets mad at Kimiko for blasting her with her new powers. It turns out that Frenchie’s experiment worked: Sage has effectively lost his greatest intelligence. “I’m making a fool of myself like you,” he said before thanking Kimiko from the bottom of his heart.
Now that they know that Kimiko’s powers are working, their plan begins to take shape. They planned to sneak into the White House using the underground tunnels that JFK allegedly used to sneak into Marilyn Monroe, according to Butcher. Everyone is on board except Sister Sage who will be using all her free time to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida. She leaves the Boys and finally has her “girl that’s gonna be alright” moment.
Meanwhile, Homelander kills an Elon Musk-type billionaire named Günter Van Ellis. Oh Father insists that meeting the “richest man in the world” representing a “billionaire corporation” would be in Homelander’s interest in control, but Homelander is tired of waiting and depending on what other people think of him. “I don’t need anyone anymore, I don’t need millionaires,” he said after flying Günter into space and leaving him there.
The boys arrived at the White House just as Homender was preparing to deliver his speech on special radio to the nation. Broadcasts are played in theaters, where magicians read the minds of viewers and mark any unbelievers in the audience. The Secret Service requests to move Ashley to safety after learning that Butcher and his team entered the tunnel. Below them, the Boys are trapped and shot in the tunnel.
Ashley decides to do the right thing and breaks away from the Secret Service to help the Boys. His twin finally stopped pacifying him and led him to Bafaneni, where he helped them escape from the room and told them how they got to Homelander’s. But he will not go with them. Ashley will always put herself first.
Is the Deep dying Boys?

When they finally break into the White House, they come across The Deep crying after Homender is placed on him. Deep, ever the manipulative narcissist, thinks that “the universe rewarded me for my honesty” by bringing him Annie. He vows to kill Annie so Homelander will “finally see” his loyalty. Annie flies off with The Deep to check on herself, while Oh Father goes after Butcher, Hughie, MM and Kimiko.
Annie and The Deep end up on the beach where he tries to coax what’s left of his personality. But The Deep is lost in the sauce, blaming him for all his problems. Wanting to answer for herself, she refuses to hear the truth and follows him. Their war is temporary. Annie and The Deep trade a few punches before he blasts her into the ocean where it soon becomes overrun with many sharks and sea creatures seeking revenge for the pipe murders and death of The Deep’s former octopus girlfriend, Ambrosius. Deep’s death is poetic and tragic – he dies after being impaled on a tentacle. #JusticeForAmbrosius!
Is Kimiko dying Boys? How did Homender lose his power?
Butcher and Kimiko interrupt Homelander’s speech in the Oval Office about the final match, which is televised across America.
Butcher and Homelander face each other and Ryan arrives just in time to stop Homelander from flying. Now it’s Ryan and Butcher taking on Homelander, while Kimiko struggles to be strong enough to blast him with her own power. His strength thickens and fades in his chest, and, in those last moments of despair, he sees Frenchie again. He reminds her that it is not her anger that gives her strength, but her strength to love.
When he arrives, Butcher and Ryan hold Homelander back and he blasts all three of them with his power, turning them all into humans. Homelander no longer has his greatest abilities. He pathetically tries to fly away as Butcher growls, knowing he’s finally with him.
How does Homender die Boys?

Butcher defeats Homelander as Supe cries and begs for his life. Frowning with a bloody mouth, she offers everything she can to Butcher to save his life, including a blow job or getting a shapeshifter to pretend to be Butcher’s ex-wife Becca.
“You have nothing,” Butcher tells Homelander just before planting his crowbar in his forehead. “And this, this is my Beka.” Butcher puts Homelander’s head on the head with a brutal murder in the Oval Office, ending the superhero.
Annie, Hughie and MM arrive at that moment and take Kimiko away. Our people share a precious moment together when they see that the work is finished.
Is Ryan dying Boys?
Ryan survived Kimiko’s power blast, although he no longer has his powers. Back at the safe house, Butcher tries to comfort Ryan and remind him that he did the right thing by helping him kill Homelander. It gives him a chance to “start over” in a new place with him and Terror. But, surprisingly, Ryan turned down his offer. “I know my father. And it’s better that he’s gone. But you’re not a good person either,” he told Butcher in a sad scene. “I didn’t choose you over him, I choose myself, I don’t want a new beginning with you, I want this to be the end.”
The finale reveals that Ryan is moving in with MM and is present at his wedding with Monique. He looks happy.
Does Butcher die Boys?

To add salt to the wound, Butcher returns to his bedroom and realizes that the dog is dead, leaving him feeling alone in the world. It is clear that the gears are turning in his head when he sees the virus again. Now that Homender is dead, should he do the rest of his plan?
Butcher sees Stan Edgar announce at a press conference that he is stepping in as interim CEO of Vought, meaning that the legendary company will continue to operate. Butcher takes this as a sign to end Supes for good.
Hughie finds Butcher at Vought Tower, where he hatches a virus-spraying plan. Butcher says he is waiting for Vought employees to come to work in the morning to be infected, which will spread around the world within days. While Hughie thinks they’ve already won by killing Homelander, Butcher believes it’s inevitable that another Supe will eventually try to do the same thing to Homelander.
Butcher and Hughie start fighting. But a moment into their conflict, Butcher gets a moment where he first sees his brother Lennie in Hughie. Second, it looks like he might change his mind. But Hughie, seeing Butcher’s finger on the trigger, shoots him in the stomach. Hughie sits with Butcher in his final moments as he admits, “I never gave up. All that blood and grief I put myself through… He stayed, no matter what I did.”
Hughie, Annie, MM, Ryan and Kimiko put Butcher to rest next to Becca. This is everyone’s last goodbye. Kimiko is going to France, and MM is going with Ryan. Annie and Hughie head to a deli in Reno that Butcher used to go to with his brother.
Boys it ends with a happy ending for everyone. Kimiko goes to Marseille in honor of Frenchie to enjoy a madeleine. Meanwhile, Ryan looks happy standing next to MM as he marries Monique. And Hughie and Annie find their little ones always happy. They are expecting a baby together! A happy couple runs a tech/video store together. And pregnancy doesn’t stop Annie from fighting crime whenever she can.
The couple share a sweet kiss on the sidewalk outside a video store as Annie flies off to fight crime. Time is directly related to how Boys it premiered six years earlier, when Hughie’s girlfriend Robin was murdered while standing outside his shop.
