Among those watching in the crowd was Zelbra Daniels, whose son was friends with Caleb. Daniels shared that this moment shows the love and support surrounding the Wilson family. Reports continue to say that Caleb was not the only student honored in this way at the event.
New Date for Caleb Wilson Hazing Charge
Also, there is another major development in the ongoing case surrounding the tragic death of Caleb Wilson. Officials have set a new trial date for five suspects accused in an incident that allegedly led to the February 2025 slaying of a Southern University student. Authorities say Wilson, 20, of Kenner, died after the suspects punched him in the chest with gloved fists during an unsanctioned Omega Psi Phidging fraternity event. Isaiah Smith, Kyle Thurman, Caleb McCray, Winston Sanders, and Jadyn Landrum previously pleaded not guilty to charges related to the case earlier this year. Since Wilson’s death, Southern University has expelled the fraternity, and officials have scheduled a hearing for August 19.
