Celebs Getting Married in 2026 Meet Gala Amid Bezos Boycott

A serious look was given at last night’s Met Gala, but if the vibes are still a little off, that might have something to do with the entire Bezos boycott.
For some context, in November of last year, Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, were appointed as lead sponsors of the 2026 Met Gala, and Vogue said that this year’s show was “made possible” by the couple’s support.
There’s been a lot of talk about how tech billionaires are getting into the arts and culture, and, with that in mind, Jeff and Lauren have been accused of “trying to get into high society and politics” by dipping their “nails into the Met Gala with sponsorships.” The backlash was so strong that Anna Wintour spoke out in defense of the decision, saying Lauren “will be a wonderful addition to the museum and the event.”
Then in March, an uproar erupted when the Bezos were quietly named as honorary participants of the event – and it’s safe to say people are still very angry about it. Before this year’s “Bezos Met Gala,” there were calls to boycott the event. So, without further ado, here are a bunch of celebrities who have given their thoughts on the matter – some more subtly than others.
1.
Supermodel and five-time Met Gala attendee Bella Hadid liked this anti-Bezos video shared on Instagram by comedian and social media celebrity Meredith Lynch, who said, “If you’re a celebrity and you’re attending the Met Gala and you’re wearing an ‘ICE out’ pin, please know that I will be dragging you forever.”
2.
Cara Delevingne liked that video, too. However, she didn’t completely boycott this year’s event, attending as a celebrity correspondent for Vogue’s red carpet’s livestream. I didn’t see him sporting the ‘ICE out’ pin.
3.
Taraji P. Henson, who has attended the Met Gala three times, also commented on Meredith’s video, writing: “I’m so confused by the other people walking. I’m just like WTF ARE WE DO!?!?!?!”
4.
Working with two anti-Bezos IG accounts, @everyonehateselon_ and @amazoncause, Mark Ruffalo staged a video of a 72-year-old Amazon employee named Mary, delivering an emotional message to the company’s billionaire founder. “You were shy, Jeff Bezos,” he said, calling the culture “dystopian”. “The people who need to be celebrated at the Met Gala are the workers. People like me. We deserve that celebration. We deserve more than what we’re getting…Enjoy your big gala.”
5.
This video was liked by Olivia Rodrigo, who has attended the Met Gala three times before.
6.
Model Bryana Holly liked the video, too. Her husband, Nicholas Hoult, was present at the 2026 Met Gala, but did not go with her.
7.
The @everyonehateselon_ IG page also shared a series of posts supporting anti-Bezos activists who say they have hidden bottles of fake urine around the Met museum, drawing attention to past allegations that Amazon workers were forced to urinate in bottles to meet production demands. Two of these posts were liked by Apple Martin, the 21-year-old daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.
8.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani broke with tradition this year by skipping the Met Gala, becoming the first NYC mayor since 2002 to do so. Although Mayor Mamdani praised the Met as an “incredible museum,” he said he would not attend the prestigious red carpet event to focus on “affordability and making the most expensive city in the United States affordable.” To be clear, it is not a direct boycott of Bezos, but given what Mayor Mamdani believes in, it is not difficult to guess where he stands on this issue.
9.
Finally, speaking of people who want to tax the rich, US Senator Elizabeth Warren wrote in X: “If Jeff Bezos were to drop $10 million to fund the Met Gala, he could pay his fair share of taxes.”
So, there you have it. A number of popular Met Gala favorites were absent from this year’s carpet, which leaves me wondering if there might be more to the Bezos boycott than we realize…
