Chaos Women it’s about a group of women who form a punk rock band – just for fun, to enter a local talent contest, just to raise money for refugees – but who discover while rehearsing an ABBA song (kambi) that they have their own voice. And that voice is fierce. They are women who have just discovered the ‘joy’ (not) of being middle-aged, menstruating and invisible. And they want to shout about it.

Beth can play the piano. Jess found her ex-husband’s drum kit laying around in the garage and signed up for some online drumming classes because she always wanted to have a crack at it. Holly has no experience, a can-do attitude and a bass guitar on loan from the guy she tied up for breaking into cars. Yvonne had guitar lessons at school, and she’s always keen to keep her diary full, so she’ll have to see if she can fit into Riot Women in. Nisha and Kam haven’t broken up, yet; they recently came on board as backing singers, saying that the biggest advantage of the band is that they are both deaf. And Kitty can sing karaoke like a West End diva, cool or otherwise.

The series celebrates women of a certain age who face the slings and arrows of life, and who find a way to get through it by writing and singing songs that leave no one in doubt about how they feel.

Chaos Women premieres Thursday 2 April on SBS and SBS On Demand. Episodes air weekly on SBS from Thursday 2 April at 9.30pm.

Sympathizing with people who have committed acts that are dangerous to themselves or others due to mental illness, and believing in their rehabilitation, is a humane, necessary, and highly controversial approach. In this drama, Suzanne (Florence Longpré), a gifted former criminologist and now a psychiatrist, confronts us about our relationship with empathy.

As he finds himself struggling, his unorthodox ways will shake things up at the Mont-Royal Psychiatric Institute, where he ends up after being strongly advised to leave the police force. At the academy, Suzanne meets Mortimer (Thomas N’Gijol), a sensational intervention officer with whom she forms a close friendship. Mortimer grew up in France in a very violent environment. His mother, who moved to Quebec with him, has dementia and demands almost all of his attention. Behind the exterior of a tough guy with questionable taste in music is a gentle man who loves unconditionally and tends to lose himself in the process. The meeting of these two characters will be fascinating, transformative and difficult.

Throughout the episodes, we follow Suzanne, Mortimer, and the medical staff as they support patients through their treatment. Each patient presents with unique diseases and conditions. By looking back, we gain insight into their lives and the impact of their disease. These patients, with their dynamic lives, are sure to move and challenge us.
