Chappell Roan Thanks Miley Cyrus For Taking ‘Heat’ Amidst Slander

Chappell Roan knowing full well that before he acted as truly as he did, Miley Cyrus it pushed the boundaries of showmanship and personality – and took on the haters.

“You literally left so I could run,” Roan, 28, told Cyrus, 33, during a surprise appearance on Disney+’s Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, which premiered Tuesday, March 24. “What I do on stage, where I can walk on the red carpet and just be.”

Cyrus – who was publicly criticized after leaving the Disney Channel and became known as a singer, especially in his time. Bangers an era that included risque outfits, graphic lyrics about drug use and stage banter – he admits in a pre-recorded segment, “Oh, I’m shut up about that.”

Roan was quick to agree with Cyrus to help pave the way for women in music because she wasn’t afraid to be herself. “He took a lot of heat for that in 2012, 2013,” Roan said of Cyrus Road at times.

The “Pink Pony Club” singer – who has had trouble with the paparazzi while being criticized for her style and lyrics – revealed, “I don’t have to deal with that because it’s really you – the world has taken you seriously. To see you for the artist that you are, to be able to do this shows your heart and your appreciation for your smallness and what brought you here.”

While Cyrus seems to be accepting of Roan’s compliments, Roan has received mixed reactions from fans for his appearance after his recent scandal involving a bodyguard and a mother’s second daughter in Brazil.

Roan raised eyebrows earlier this month, when the footballer Jorginho he said his 11-year-old stepdaughter was not allowed to meet the singer. Roan is said to have sent a security guard to handle the situation and accused the little girl of abusing her while they were eating at a hotel in São Paulo. (Jorginho is married to him Catherine Hardingwho assigned the daughter Ada to the elder Jude Law.)

Roan later took to social media to share his side of the story, saying he “didn’t even see the woman and the child” while they were having breakfast.

“No one came at me, no one hurt me,” Roan said in an Instagram Story video posted on Sunday, March 22. “Like, I was just having breakfast at my hotel, [and] I think these people were staying at the hotel.”

The Grammy winner said he “didn’t ask the security guard to come up and talk to this mother and child.”

Roan went on to say “I don’t hate people who are fans of my music. I don’t hate kids” after receiving criticism for the incident.

“I’m sorry to the mother and the child that someone thought you were going to do something, if you’re not comfortable, that makes me very sad,” she said. “You don’t deserve that.”
