A teacher employed at a New York school where “obsolete boxes” were allegedly used to confine young students has been arrested, according to authorities and media reports.
Karrie Haverstock60, a special education teacher in the Salmon River Central School District, was arrested Wednesday, March 18, on charges of child endangerment, according to New York State Police. Albany Times-Union report.
Haverstock was taken into custody after a parent accused him of putting their daughter in solitary confinement and using sticks to shave the girl’s forehead, according to the newspaper.

After the Salmon River Central School District launched an independent investigation into the suspected expired boxes, the district shared an update on the investigation’s findings on March 12.
“An investigation found that two expired boxes were used for a short period of time in November and December 2025 at Salmon River Elementary School,” the district said in a news release. “Investigators found no evidence of intentional harassment, assault or mistreatment of students. However, the report identified compliance issues related to the way time-out procedures were implemented and documented under New York State laws.”
