‘Bachelorette’ alum James McCoy Taylor has been arrested again on assault charges in Texas

Former “The Bachelorette” star James McCoy Taylor was arrested again in Texas for his 2024 assault – even after pleading guilty and receiving his sentence last year.
The 39-year-old man was booked into the Brazos County Jail on Friday but was released the same day after posting a $10,000 bond, the Brazos County Sheriff’s Department said, according to Fox News.
Taylor — who appeared on season 12 of “The Bachelorette” in 2016 — was arrested on a warrant related to an April 2024 incident in which a 19-year-old college student accused him of assaulting her and barring her from leaving her residence in Texas.
He was first arrested in August 2024 on charges of assault causing bodily harm and unlawful restraint in the incident.
Taylor pleaded guilty in April 2025 to assaulting a 19-year-old Blinn College student and was ordered to complete 80 hours of community service, pay a $750 fine and $350 in court costs, and attend anger management classes.
He was also banned from contacting the victim and banned from entering the Northgate Entertainment district.
The “Bachelorette” alum was arrested again on Friday after a court revoked his probation and issued a warrant on February 17 for his failure to pay the full amount of his fine.
The country singer paid $884 of the $1,184 fine but still owes $300 and made a final payment of $80 shortly before his arrest, according to court records obtained by Fox News.
After his arrest in August 2024, Taylor released a statement to People denying any wrongdoing.
“I’m a nice guy but I was trying to ‘unlawfully restrain’ a girl and she just… ran away?… and headed straight for her Uber right outside my house? Unhurt?” he said as he left.
“I would never hurt anyone. I treat EVERYONE I meet well.”
A probable cause affidavit obtained by the outlet says Taylor met the woman at a bar in College Station before taking her back to his dorm, where they began kissing — until she said she wanted to leave.
The woman told investigators that he had grabbed her and pushed her to the ground.
She also said that Taylor “groped her private parts” and “used his body weight to hold her down and kiss her hard,” before she was able to move free, run out the front door and run away before calling the police.
This is not the first time Taylor has run into the law.
In September 2022, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated and illegally carrying a weapon.
In November 2023 he was sentenced to five days in the Brazos County Detention Center and ordered to pay a $500 fine and $585 in court costs.
The DWI charge also resulted in a temporary suspension of his driver’s license.
Taylor’s arrest Friday comes after ABC pulled the plug on the next season of “The Bachelorette” after disturbing video surfaced of Taylor’s Frankie Paul domestic dispute.
The move comes as allegations involving his ex-wife, Dakota Mortensen, continue to surface and affect his reality TV projects.
