The Bachelorette’s James McCoy Taylor Arrested In 2024 Case

Former Bachelorette contestant James McCoy Taylor arrested in connection with his 2024 assault case.
According to Brazos County, Texas online records, viewed by Us WeeklyTaylor was arrested on Friday, March 20. He was released the same day on a $10,000 bond. (A surety bond is a legally binding contract between three people, guaranteeing that the principal will fulfill the contractual obligations to the obligee.)

Taylor’s arrest Friday is related to the 2024 incident. At that time, Us confirmed that the reality TV contestant was taken into custody on warrants issued by the nearby Bryan Police Department. He was arrested on charges of assault causing bodily harm and unlawful restraint.
Citing court records, Complex reported that Taylor pleaded guilty in 2025 and was sentenced to 18 months of probation, 80 hours of community service, a $750 fine, $350 in court costs and anger management classes. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim and was banned from College Station, Texas’ Northgate Entertainment District, media reported.
His probation was terminated by the court last month, in connection with issues related to non-payment of fines, Complex report. A warrant for his arrest was issued on February 17, according to the report. Complex reported that Taylor owed $300 of the $1,184 total, including fines, court costs and other fees.
Prior to his initial arrest, Taylor allegedly told police that working with the woman was “fun and friendly.” He was released on an $8,000 bond. Taylor denied the allegations in a statement.
“So let me get this straight. Not even a scratch on me as I showed the police pictures of my entire body which was uncomfortable, to say the least, and I’m a very nice guy, but I was trying to ‘unlawfully’ stop a girl and she just…ran away?” Taylor told multiple outlets at the time. “And I was heading to his Uber right outside my House? Without getting hurt? Okay, I got it. This makes a lot of sense. Trust me if there were any injuries they would be all over the internet.”
Taylor said he did not remember the victim’s name, but said the woman’s family confronted him about the allegations.
“I would never hurt anybody. I’m good to everybody I meet. That’s my statement,” Taylor said. “Now go ahead and throw away my life because you hate my political or ideological stance, you will join TikTok.”
Taylor’s lawyer also released a statement to him Us about the allegations, which read at the time, “Will Vaughn James is innocent unless proven guilty, and we plan to vigorously represent him in this matter.
Taylor showed up JoJo Fletcher‘s season 12 of The Bachelorettewhich aired in 2016. Four years later, Taylor participated in the March on the Capitol in Washington, DC, to protest the President. Donald Trumplosing the 2020 election.

The source said Us at the time Taylor’s claims of support from ABC were “blatantly false,” and the Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss take on X to deal with comments.
“Anyone who’s ever been a member/stupid who went to a Trump rally, got a message saying … You’re officially kicked out of #BachelorNation!!!” Fleiss wrote.
Two years later, Taylor was arrested in September 2022 for driving under the influence and illegal possession of a weapon. A Brazos County jury found Taylor guilty of both charges one month later. He was sentenced to five days’ probation, a $500 fine and $585 in court costs, and his driver’s license was suspended.
